As far as accusing clubs or in this case CFC condoning overly physical play is flat out ridiculous. The games have refs and overly physical play gets rewarded with yellow and red cards.

If there's a place where players become targeting it's in High school soccer.
how many yellows or reds have you seen given out- be honest

      depends on age and level.

Younger ages, the Refs will speak to the kids before showing a card. Older ECNL games are generally pretty tight. They have three man crews and are typically the better refs.

          What are you talking about?

Poster is saying that in older games there is likely to be rough play but the refs hold in it in check. They specifically mentioned older ECNL games not high school games.

High school games can be a disaster. most times there is just one ref for regular season high school games. They miss everything.

Do you need it spelled out for you in more granular detail?

Well, a-holes, how about your team quit repeatedly fouling the "same kid"?

Older kid playing against one of their teams in a couple weeks. At least he now has the scouting report.
              - you're not going to make it through HS soccer
              - one game is hardly representative of all is it?

The issue was a CFC team apparently was shoving and fouling a certain player multiple times.

There is a HUGE difference in playing tough/hard and being dirty. From the original post I didnt see anything dirty about it. Players Get fouled....it happens

It sounds more like the player getting fouled....cant handle the physical aspect of this game.

                This isnt golf....

There’s never just one ref for HS games.

How about this: if a team or a particular player is better, you still do your best to try to win within the rules, but if you're beaten by better competitors, applaud a good performance and maybe take a little pride in giving it your best effort. I believe there's a word for that... rhymes with "sportsmanship."
You must be new to the sport. Cheating?? Ever heard of a professional foul?

Well there is certainly hardly ever a 3 man crew. High school games are most 2 refs until you get to the CIAC tournament. Some schools/conferences spring for it in conference tournaments but not typical.

A well-timed "professional" foul and constant elbowing, shoving, etc., are two different things. Ideally, "professional" fouls would be rewarded with a yellow; repeated borderline dangerous play should get yellow, then red if it continues. But you hardly ever see any cards in youth soccer (I'm not at H.S. age yet, so don't know about cards at that level), as if refs can't make themselves believe that kids are playing intentionally dirty. Some clubs seem to encourage this kind of play more than others. If they have to make up for lack of talent with overly rough play, I guess that will work to an extent, but they'll eventually be found out.

That is where coaches need to step in. Normally if this is a boys team, his teammates should be taking notes during the game and finding an effective solution to this problem. This is something the girls don't do enough of.
Better players and ball hogs (often the same).
