Anyone have any news or inside info on new coach? I assume we will know by April 15 when NCAA tourney is over.

New coach will be at a disadvantage Florida is in one of their worst seasons ever. The coach will be behind the eight ball in recruiting the players he or she wants in a tough SEC conference look for Florida to be very bad for the next 2 years at least.

If anything, I think it's safe to say that the program can't get any worse and hopefully with a new coach he/she will be able to turn it around sooner than later. I agree with the previous poster, it will take a couple seasons for a new coaching staff to rebuild the team. The game UF had against FSU is not an indicator at all on any level that the UF program is doing fine. That game was an exhibition with no available stats. For all we know FSU could have played their entire bench. The fact the Gators lost to LSU stings, A LOT. LSU is in a rebuilding phase with a new coach this year and they are having a terrible season having just lost to D2 school DBU the game before. It's a race to the bottom between UF and LSU and the fact LSU won says a lot about where UF is right now.

NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to the players as if this year did not count. The transfer portal will be overflowing with players with experience who want to switch colleges. The new coaches could bring their experienced players to UF to continue playing and get their masters degrees while playing an extra year.

2. A talented big roster = less playing time. Players wanna play. Not sit on the bench.
3. Transfer portal will have a huge impact for the new coach. Especially if current players on the UF roster don’t fit the new coach’s style of play

2. You need a huge roster to play in the SEC because the play is so physical and injuries are a constant.
3. I've seen this comment about the transfer portal blowing up with players wanting to transfer right now. Why would that be? I would think that with the 5th year option more players would want to stay where they are. Plus, why, in particular would more athletes want to transfer right now?

2. Huge rosters and big rosters are not the same. UF has always had a huge roster of 30+ players yet how many actually play and see the field?
3. Look at all sports. The transfer portal has had a huge impact on football and basketball. Why not on soccer? You are assuming that all schools are renewing athletic scholarships for 5th year seniors. That is not the case. Just because you get a 5th year does NOT mean you get the same athletic scholarship amount or any money at all. Plus some girls are over soccer and the grind of being a student athlete.

Scholarships and academic packages all vary greatly from player to player based on skills/value they bring to the team, academic scholarships they will get, Bright Futures for instate kids, and many other factors.
My comments are based on my daughter committing to play soccer at an out of state public school

And by Florida not offering full scholarships is why she hasn’t won anything since Abby, who went to Florida because she got a full ride. If you actually think that 28 players are splitting 14 scholarships you are very mistaken. They have at least 5-8 walk ons about 12–15 girls are splitting 10 scholarships and rest split the 4. Do you think any top 30 players in their age groups are paying for school.
