I may regret this when the whole thread disintegrates into the old "technical skills and soccer IQ vs. size and sheer athleticism" debate.

But, in general, the ACC has more soccer players that are super athletic with high soccer skills and soccer IQ and the SEC has more soccer players that are incredibly athletic (tall, strong, fast, powerful and leaping ability) and lower soccer skills and soccer IQ.

Which leads to two very different styles of play (generally speaking) and different levels of success in the Round of 8 and beyond.

Good point. But even if you forget about tournament results, and just look at quality of the recruits going in and the quality of recruits coming out, the PAC-12 and ACC are highly favored over the SEC.

This is off on a bit of a tangent to the OP's statement about Beck's legacy and replacement, but hard not to nibble on it.

To the genius comparing acc and sec players. How many natl championships has acc won when you exclude UNC. 1 Virginia and 2 FSU which should be an sec school. Virginia 1 and Florida 1 you wanna be expert. PS what’s the last time UNC won a natl championship

            Comment

Sec will be above acc within 10 years

This may be the dumbest comment ever on TS. Why exclude UNC? Why should FSU be an SEC school- they aren’t, and neither are many other competitive southern schools.

How many championshipshios has the SEC won? 1. And since you love the game where you exclude things? Exclude Abby Wambach (who only went to UF to put distance between herself and her parents who were conflicted about her lifestyle) and the SEC would have none at all.

Oh wow you must know Abby personally. You are definitely a dummy. Go see when did UNC win their championships. Better soccer iq players play in acc. You are an idiot for real.

Lol! That comment alone was worth the whole tangent of SEC vs . . . .

In the last 10 years (seems like a reasonable time frame for recent success) the ACC has been dominant and the SEC an after thought:

2019 ACC had 1 team in the final 4...UNC, they finished runners up
SEC had zero teams in final 4

2018 ACC had 2 teams in the final 4...UNC and FSU, FSU finished champion and UNC runners up

There is no real comparison between the two conferences. These are the facts.

Got it, this thread doesn't matter to you, and you therefore want to insult anyone having a conversation without you. OK. Maybe we should do the usual insulting everyone now so everyone can join in.

UNC would have gotten Abby far from her parents but UNC did not offer her a full scholarship and UF did.
