ECNL want the $$$, and the dream is college soccer which is parents hot button. This league and college mode is all that’s wrong with US becoming a World Cup Champion or even a World Powerhouse in Soccer.

The Federation should just drop the hammer and only sanction leagues with a promotion relegation model, everyone else is a rougue league. Leverage ODP and National Training Centers as a means to ending Pay-For-Play Leagues.
Uuum, MLS doesn't have promotion and relegation, sooooo .....

so no girls league will produce top player then ? What can the USSF do IF that is the goal? people go on about collaborating with the ECNL, but why? 2 very different goals.

There is only one goal. To make money. Anyone that doesn't understand that is usually a paying customer.

The first step to making money is to obtain customers. " Measurement" is down the road.

It's more about market share in terms of clubs and players - which then brings profits - and control. If USSF really cared about quality they wouldn't have nearly as many garbage clubs in the system to fill geography. New USSF president has zero soccer experience and was an investment banker. Don't look to see it change anytime soon. Look to see GDA expand down to U12 next year, as well as the U17s split into single year teams. Again, more players = more market share and $.

Yes, but in this business control can precede profits. And usually does.

ECNL has never been about grassroots. (Neither is academy, for that matter.) U.S. Club has always been a money grab, so that includes NPL and ECNL.

If you care about grassroots, look to the low-cost leagues provided by the CJSA and USYS, which include recreational as well as TOPS soccer, in addition to competitive travel and premier leagues.

But, you don't really care about grassroots soccer, do you.

True, and ironically, it appears that many of those that have vacated that space are the most manipulated, abused, unhappy and anxiety ridden customers of the entire spectrum. Ironic because many of those that originally started the path left for that perceived circumstances .
