Most of NPL and EDP don't publish rosters, but clubs can if they want to on their own websites. NE NPL which mirrors ECNL, does list rosters.

Is there a benefit from going from NPL to ECNL Composite 00/01? Can someone explain this composite thing to me? Does the connection to ECNL help when trying to play in college? My daughter already has a few offers to play in college but has her mind set on a few other schools. Can someone outline the costs involved?

It is unlikely that a college will pick up your kid senior year based on her play senior year. So, getting the ECNL badge via the compost team won't help, but probably won't hurt, either. The compost team doesn't get any showcases and gets only one lame azz tournament. This past year, the coach was AWOL because he had other commitments, including an ECNL team at a younger age. So, don't expect much from the coach, either.

What playing compost will do is keep your kid fit and keep her skills up, which college coaches will like if they have offered you a spot. If you don't have a college to go play at and don't plan to walk on, then there's no good reason to spend the money.

                  Does that help?

This year's composite team is last years NPL team.

A good reason to stay with the composite team is camaraderie. This is your team and these are your friends, so finish up your club career with them.

                      ^^^^^ nailed it!

As a parent of a former composite player, the team is meant to show college coaches (for those already committed) that you are serious about arriving fit and ready to your college team in the fall.

The composite team was originally meant to handle the problems created by the age-group switch, when some clubs ended up with an excess of loyal players in the oldest age bracket and nowhere to put them.

Now clubs use it for similar reasons but in addition you will see a lot more players on the roster that are younger. CFC uses the team to get a look at those younger players (collect their fees) to determine their talent and dedication. In addition, they use it as overflow on game day to give those players who don't make the 18-player game-day limit a place to play. This allows them to carry extra roster positions ($$$$) on each team and still promise each player a chance to play each weekend.

Smart for the club...not so much for the uncommitted player looking to get recruited. No college recruiting happens at Composite games....NONE.

Let your kid play composite if she wants to. Use the money elsewhere if she doesn't. It's that simple.

Don’t they also get to play at ECNL showcase events?

Agree, it is designed to give committed kids a place to play. They keep the travel costs down by only attending GPS and PDA (no flights). For uncommitted kids, it is an expensive waste of time if you are looking for college looks. It is hardly taken seriously.

No PDA. Only GPS. But, also no regular coach and not inexpensive.
