    Men's National team a joke

Let's face it our men's National program is terrible, third tier, and embarrassing most of the time. I'm a proud American and will always support our boys but the organization is a joke from top to bottom. My question is why do we want to now take our women's program which was the best in the world and subject them to the system of US soccer that has done nothing for the men? Didn't the US's best all soccer coach of all time - Anson Dorrance say one thing that contributed immensely to the success of the Women's program was that no one cared. In other words no one was out managing the girls program, they were just playing and he was good enough to recognize talent when and wherever he was able to see them play. Do we really need all these organizations?

Now, now. They've advanced to the knockout stage of the past two World Cups, so they are at least second-tier in that regard (first-tier nations can get to the quarters, third-tier nations qualify but fail to advance, and fourth-tier nations don't even qualify).

The reason the women's program is struggling is the rest of the world is catching up to it--not because of any change in training for American girls. (And it's something that we, the defending world champs in women's soccer, are concerned about the health of the program only two years out from winning the WC).

But I'm sure you've got a club and a program that will single-handedly Fix Everything That Is Wrong With American Soccer, if we just put you in charge and got rid of the money-grubbing coaches and bureaucrats that are obviously holding the program back. Right?

Right, because Germany, Spain and the like all don't care about their men's team and allow them to just play.
The US team is going to have a bueracracy around it like all other teams, and like the Mexican team that they just drew 1-1 at Azteca.
They are going to have up years and down years. It wasn't all that long ago that the Germans lost to England 0-5 in the midst of a poor run of form.
It also wasn't too long after that they hammered Brazil...

The trajectory of US soccer is decent. The team will likely continue to make inroads in the FIFA rankings and may challenge for the World Cup in your lifetime. It isn't going to happen overnight. That's why you need the structure that you appararntly are arguing against...

US Womens soccer is behind the world. They just recently won the world cup.

Their success is based on athleticism. The USWNT has some of the top athletes in the country where other countries did not. Now you have other countries starting to field top athletes....combine that with top training methods and now you have a USWNT that is behind.

Nope. The US Women have pretty much dominated the world for the recent past. That's because US Soccer stayed out of it.

Now US Soccer wants to bring their failed mens model to try to "fix" the women.

            Not smart.

US Women have been doing great. Without US Soccer involved.

US Men are boring and not very good. With US Soccer involved.

So US Soccer wants to get involved with women and take the fun and the quality out.

2013-2017 US U20 Nat team out of the money in the last two WC championships.

2010-2017 US U17 Nat team out of the money in the last 3 WC championshps

This time period matches up with the ECNL creation and operation.

2017 US Soccer says enough is enough with this horrific model and creates the DA.

Our Women's youth Nat teams have stunk at the World level with the advent of the ECNL. Facts don't lie.

                Prior 2012 US won 3 Women's U20 World Cups..nothing since. Thanks ECNL.

Think of the fact that the US women's and men's are behind and outdated. Losing to countries the size of Florida on the regular.

Now think that those same people want to run a league for boys and girls and saying it's evidently now the best development location and will mandate requirements including you have to buy their joke of a license to coach or play their schedule.

It's almost as bad as saying if you play in a Ecnl league you are evidently now good and will be the best....

US soccer is not good at development. They are in it to make a lot of money.

Your view is completely naive. Us soccer has been involved with Women's soccer since the beginning and has invested more in Women's soccer than every other country in the world.

US Soccer is awful at development. You have to understand they are in this to make money. Lots of money. They will tank the women like they tanked the men.

Outch! Someone must be really disappointed not making the DA team. It's Ok - develop in ECNL and try again next year.

Struggling is an understatement. Watch the 2 games USWNT played against Sweden. Bootball galore! And the media glamorizes the kick and chase - you don't think kids notice that and think to themselves "look at those players, I'm going to play like that". Women's soccer in the USA is in a downward spiral big time.
