I have no problem with Landycakes shilling for Wells Fargo. Of course, Wells Fargo is an evil corporation that should have been sued out of existence, with it's entire executive jailed for life, but that's another story.

There are two kinds of fans.

Fans like me who will support Mexico because they're our neighbors and we didn't make it.

And, fans who won't.

There are fans in England who will support any English team in Champions League if their club is out. And, there are fans who won't.

None of these approaches are inherently bad or worse than the other. So, give Landycakes a break.

England controlled the Scots. It's hatred that goes back hundreds of years. Check in your kid's world history book and you'll see the US was never controlled by Mexico and there's no real animosity, only in the imagination of our current administration. US fans won't cheer for Mexico because 1) they don't care about soccer 2) they don't care about anyone but the US (unless they have an affinity for a country through family history or experience).
