Wednesday is April 1. Lot of clubs traditionally have ECNL tryouts in May. Whatever further defections that are going to occur amongst the remaining 46 GDA clubs this year will likely be announced in the next two weeks.
Is that what is left 46? I believe it was mentioned somewhere (SA article) that there would be handful that also would not return next year. So let’s say 42? Tough to run a national league with that number.

Yeah, it’s not good. Iceberg has hit the titanic. Some people are getting lifeboat seats. Others are still getting dressed for dinner.

A 12 month cycle, whether it starts Jan 1, Aug 1 or March 30th, places all kids born within that 12 month period into a single group. One can pick any arbitrary date to start and end the cycle, but a date that has some LOGIC attached to it would be a date that allows kids within the same academic class to play together. August 1 worked pretty well, because kids with fall birthdays still ended up playing with their classmates. That also ensured that 8th and 12th graders with fall birthdays didn't have to scramble to find teams.
I guess being unclear...I think kids should play with other kids born in the same calendar year. if you're born in 2003, you play with other kids born in 2003.

And USSF is getting their instruments out of their cases and preparing to play some inspirational tunes...

So you like it when kids with fall birthdays are forced to play with "older kids" in a different grade? Many kids start playing sports with their school friends. They carpool to practice together, socialize after training and games. But for one group of kids, all that benefit is lost because their birthday forces them to play with kids a grade ahead of them. It's the type of subtle thing that causes some kids to drop the sport and pursue activities that they can share with their friends.

You think it's not a problem when those kids reach 8th grade and all of a sudden there's no soccer for them in the fall - because the rest of their "age group" is playing in high school? They have to scramble to find some temporary soccer to play, while their teammates are playing with older kids and possibly getting much better. There's absolutely NO advantage for those fall birthday 8th grader --- nothing but disadvantage. You like a system with that as a guaranteed outcome, when the alternative (Aug 1 cutoff) completely eliminates the problem?

Give us YOUR list of advantages to a birth year system. There are none.

What is the advantage to that?

Everyone on the field is the same age. Seems self-explanatory.

Birth year or calendar year puts kids within a 12 month span together on the field. So that is not an advantage. Try again.

Everybody will be the same age regardless of which 12 month period you choose.

Teams will already be a mess after Covid-19 settles down. The recruiting timeline for high school players will be further compressed. It would actually make sense to go to grade based teams again.

                        You can't be this dumb.

                        Nice trolling.

Solar & Top Hat are the two big targets. If/when that happens other dominoes will quickly start to fall.

Look for a 16th team to be added to the NE conference. Probably from the southern end.
