What benefits will the kids truly get from this "affiliation"?
What FC Sarasota doesnt get is that IMG plan is to introduce the players to their philosophy and then try and make those same players bevome full IMG players next season. Leaving FC Sarasota out in the cold and in a worse position then before.
We will watch it all go down that way

        In THEORY:
-Small club (FC Sarasota), pays a fee for affiliation.
-They can then advertise that affiliation, pitching the idea that if players "top out" at the small club, they will then be "pulled up" to the bigger better team (DA/MLS/ECNL/ETC).
-This could potentially be a huge benefit to the handful of good players at a given small club.

        in PRACTICE:
-Small club (FC Sarasota), pays a fee for affiliation.
-Club fees increase to cover this cost, and to fund the bonus for the director who landed the deal.
-Large club never again thinks of small club or any of it's players.
        -Affiliation Ends.

IMG has several players on the boys and girls side from their affiliated clubs. They get good training from IMG coaches. They play in leagues that they wouldn't be exposed to. If IMG likes them, some of them leave the affiliated club and join IMG. This is the part that clubs don't like. They can't handle that good players might something better. Now their good team isn't very good anymore. This makes other players leave because they don't like losing.

IMG had an affiliation with Braden River, when the affiliation ended, IMG poached a couple dozen players in order to fill rosters because their numbers are/were low. Bad decision by Braden River, good for IMG and good for the players who get fantastic training for a little bit more than what they were paying at Braden River (some don't pay at all).

                IMG ACADEMY SOCCER COMPETITIVE PLATFORMS
IMG Academy’s soccer program is comprised of teams ranging from U13 through U19 as well as post-graduate opportunities at the U18/U19 league level dependent on a student-athlete’s age eligibility. The program competes across two competitive platforms:

                MLSNEXT

If we ever had a real Academy structure in this country it would be done through nothing but affiliates and no one club would have the "DA". I know it doesn't exist anymore but it could have worked much better if it were run by a separate entity affiliated will all clubs in its region and not a marketing effort for one club to bring kids to their lower teams with a promise of a DA call up. Instead we have watered down MLS Elite and ECNL leagues competing for the top players with neither league having a claim to being the top anymore. 1 real DA, independent of the clubs, and let the clubs compete for players in the next tier down leagues (preferably with promotion/relegation at the older ages)

Only a joke if you don't play it. No ECNL can beat an MLS Next in Florida

False. I've personally seen several ecnl teams beat MLS next teams in tournaments and scrimmages this season. Keep telling yourself it is like the old DA though.

None ! So what players , from what team, will benefit from this? The FC director gets a small kickback for arranging the "affiliate". Then when his contract is up at FC Sarasota, he leaves and goes back to IMG .
After stripping down FC Sarasota some more and having them bleed a slower death .
