    IMG Affiliate

    Our club just became an IMG Affiliate. Curious from parents at clubs that are doing this whether you felt like it added value.

    Definitely adds value. Hundreds of scouts each year will come to img looking for the top soccer prospects. You cannot get this kind exposure at other clubs.

        IMG = Blowhards.

        None of these affiliates work. A year from now your club will be independent again

            It might add cost... but alas this is not the same as "value"

                  Usually no value. They usually do it to create a buzz within the club to keep the parents on the hook for another year

                      FC Sarasota are excited to announce that we have signed an agreement with IMG Academy to be a part of their IMG Academy Affiliate Club Program. We will be joining five other local clubs that are currently participating in the program giving our respective top players the opportunity to develop and compete at the highest levels of soccer in the U.S.A., including MLS NEXT and The Girls Academy League. The program will allow select FC Sarasota players to gain exposure to IMG Academy training and performance plans. Select players will also be able participate in up to twelve games in a seasonal year providing them exposure to US Soccer Scouts and college coaches that attend IMG Academy games and showcase events.

                        It all makes sense.

                        The current FC Sarasota DOC was a IMG puppet before he got fired from there.

                        FC Sarasota has lost many players , and even teams this season to the new club Next Generation.

                        FC Sarasota was and is worried about more of their players leaving. This is a last ditch effort on FC Sarasota part to stay alive.

                        FC has sold their soul and younger players.

                        IMG wont do this for free so less $ stays at FC Sarasota

                        All the benefits points to this. It wasnt that long ago that Braden River was an " affiliate" of IMG .
                        How did that work out

                          I guess I don't understand the club business model - why would you agree to pay money to have your best player(s) leave? So it's like, "We'll pay you to take our player"?

                            The benefits are for the kids not the club. Braden River didn't get that.

                              Ok, I get it. So if you have a player that shouldn't really be at the club in the first place, and would have left to develop further anyway, then you can build that into your club philosophy and sell it as a dream for the parents to get their checkbooks out again.
