This is just bad, ugly soccer.
It's 2017. The more this post is true, the more club soccer parents are the dumbest consumers in America who have been defrauded of millions of dollars and hours.

This is one of the most ignorant and stupid threads ever. And that is saying something.
It's a certain level of comfort on the ball. Maybe "Mastering" is too strong a word. Watch the top U11 Stars teams play- it's that kind of passing and combination play that's missing in HS soccer. The coach is basically saying "Why can't HS Soccer be played at as high a level as HS Basketball?"

Such a tedious, ironic discussion topic. Blame club soccer mate.

Watch any top level team in any sport and any club. They will play what you perceive is a better way to play. There aren't enough quality players available to play what you perceive is the best way. They make up the top rosters of these clubs. Take a look at any clubs 2nd tier teams and you will see HS level play. The Godfather of coaching, JB, has shown consistently at stars he cannot improve the lesser player. Nor will he try. HE IS A LAZY COACH.

You're not wrong...even though you're about to be bashed as that disgruntled parent of a lesser player that JB didn't like.

The goals for high school administrators regarding sports are not to produce top athletes in their sports. Yes winning is great, some losing is acceptable, kids going on to play in college a bonus. But they want kids staying busy and out of trouble, learning a few things about teamwork and leadership, school pride et al. It's the psycho club parents that can't seen to accept this reality. If it's so bad their little darlings can now do DA ten months a year. It will make the sidelines more enjoyable while we're having fun watching our kids play (if you sit facing the sun and squint a lot you don't notice the quality so much).

A great point. Says a lot about any high school coach who so diminishes the overall student-athlete experience by constantly smearing everyone around him for style or quality of play on the field. Almost like he doesn't actually care about anything unless it makes him look good.

He's a real winner, Natick HS...

As members of the Natick High School Athletic program, students and coaches are expected to demonstrate proper respect for each other, other teams, coaches, teammates, officials, spectators and equipment. Student-athletes and coaches are expected to exhibit the highest level of conduct, both on and off the playing field, as they are, at all times, representatives of their team, school and community. While winning is a natural goal in the pursuit of excellence and athleticism, the principles of good sportsmanship and enjoyment of competition take precedence at all times and enhance the educational value of contests.

Does the GDA have a coach code of ethics like this?

Why is this not the case for basketball and football ?

It isnt about the quality of player or a 'better way to play'. playing kick and run just teaches the defenders to 'kick far' and forwards to run.

I was actually at the recent Natick vs Brookline. Both teams are very talented and the Brookline GK is a top, top player. But the difference in style with her being encourage to punt and kick every ball as far as she can was clear for all to see.
In fact brooklines best chance came from natick trying to pass, a mistake and brookline being rewarded an easy chance. Natick didnt change their style even though a mistake was made.

If you cant understand why one style suits the development of players vs the other then just dont post. because you'll never understand. and no development doesnt stop at 14/15.
The U16 and U18 age groups are crucial for player development. Look at how many 'top' teenagers fade out at pro clubs. Its a very important time for players.

Stars are dead. Breakers is the powerhouse in Mass now on the girls side.

At 15/16 it's more about tactical, mental and physical development. The technical development is for all intensive purposes- DONE. Look at the recent Diego Fagundez interview for example, he says that he's basically the same player when he played Chivas USA at 16 except that he has improved defensively (a tactical development).

At some point, he'll actually convince players from his own school to play GDA, not just all the other schools around him.
His future won't be with Stars either once DA takes off the big guy takes it over. JB thinks he's the club's DOC .
