If you take a realistic look at the odds, it is foolish to go into it for the main purpose of obtaining a college scholarship. How many players are getting 50% or more D1 scholarships? Not very many.

The reality is these days where clubs are starting their programming in the 2nd-3rd grade that is actually on the late side to be answering the potential question. Be prepared for a bunch of his baseless "facts" that he constantly uses to convince parents that are struggling with the whole recruiting thing that they can shoot higher than is realistically warranted and that they have more time than they factually do. He wants people to fail at the recruiting game and join with him in celebrating education over soccer because he believes that most club soccer parents are in it just to support their kids and have absolutely no interest in college scholarships. In his weird world the costs of both club soccer and college tuition are trivial. His views are beyond ill informed and his constant barrages espousing them make him a huge menace.

Not to mention that your narrative, as always, is 100% false. I was always for striving higher. But let's see you hate on D3 a little more. Why can't you support MCLA???

Not understanding the recruiting time line is probably the biggest reason families come away frustrated with the whole recruiting process. Have to know what level of player you have and when a college coach at that level is likely to be looking for players. If you start too early or too late you run the risk of missing your window of opportunity.

There are many paths to the "top". A top coach once told me that he could pick out the kids that would be successful college soccer players. He said it wasn't the ones with the most talent, it was the ones with the most drive.
You need both things, talent and drive, and at age 12 there are still too many variables to really say what the future holds. As a general rule!
