I heard a rumor that OC is getting rid of DA but keeping ECNL. Why wouldn't they keep DA and get rid of ECNL? doesn't make sense.

They want to get rid of GDA because they are a business and GDA is losing money for the “club”.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have read on here. No way OC would dump DA and hold on to DA. Lots of problems with OC's academy,.

You got that right. Major issues on academy side. So much so son is leaving ECNL team to go to another ECNL club next season. Been with OC for 4 years and still the same.
Can't see OC giving up on DA either.

Bottom line

OC Boys DA is going to partner with MV academy. MV academy will house players school and feed them in the residential program they already have in place. Some OC players will make the cut but MV will begin a strong national recruiting program to attract the top professional prospects. #Thisisbusiness

it's ben rumored since last year, OC owners want to dump the DA onto Montverde, which some of the OC players will still make the squad, but from watching Montverde's multiple teams they will fill most of the older ages with their players

MV was always a choice but got put on back burner when Lake Nona Project was announced.

OC just signed over DA infastruture to MV. MV location, coaches and large percent of players 15 plus in age will have strong consideration.

OC 11-13 year olds will still have chance but expect a big carpet pull at age 15-16.

This is reality and it’s months away from being put in place.

This merger makes sense. Saves money for owner and opens up door to highly talented foreign kids that are already being recruited by this Prep School.

This is not true. OC already committed to usl for 2018 season. As far as MV taking over the academy, MV is around 80% foreign players. Doesn’t make sense for a mls da which is supposed to be about developing homegrown American players.

Makes zero sense! Us development academy is suppose to be for kids who could play in the academy, not a bunch of foreigners from another country. It is oidricrous that oc is even contemplating this move. Monteverde isn’t the answer to oc money problem. Atlanta is kicking our butt and next will be Miami!

And the owner in Atlanta put his money where his mouth is and he hired real pros to run his academy. Year one they are already ahead of OC. Only going to continue to pull away unless something major at OC changes.
