I think this is 100% the best options. Manhattan SC would be a good addition and could pull from many places without cannibalizing other ECNL clubs very much.

Given the size of the market and location yes it would be a good addition

The Albany area would make a lot of sense actually. I’m sure all the talent is spread throughout many clubs in the area and having ECNL would merge much of that talent. I have heard they are on conversation with GA but are holding off committing with hopes of ECNL. But who the heck knows.

Albany makes no sense for ECNL. Population is too small <100K. Manhattan makes a lot of sense, they can travel with WC. Albany better off in GAL.

They should take the GA offer, no chance a team from that small a market with no natural travel partner gets ECNL.

That’s like saying the pop of Hartford is 125,000 so not big enough for ECNL

If the ECNL is going to add a club it will be NEFC as they are the best remaining but with 3 ECNL teams in Mass already very doubtful.

Not exactly, the Albany metro is similar in population to the Hartford metro area with one big difference, size. Albany metro is the size of all of Massachusetts. Not practical for players to travel that far so you essentially shrink the metro population making it much smaller than Hartford.

Actually what's considered the Albany metro area is 1M people, and not that geographically large. It includes nearby decent sized cities like Troy and Schenectady (20 min drive)

Taking a page from GDAP and GAL ..... I guess this is the new way .... Quantity over quality. They are defining themselves in a simar light by doing this ..... Truly most clubs in ECNL (and GAL) are not elite. Youth soccer here is a joke.

                            soccer

it all keeps rolling uphill with changing names. ECNL2 or Ercl is now trying to gobble up any club they can. And parents will rush to join clubs with these letters. at some point they will add ecnl elite for the top teams. All the same thing with different initials. Just fighting for players and dollars. They already knocked out NPL. They will come after EDP next. The top EDP teams will all become ECRL

And the ERCL letters will mean even less than they do now if that is possible

Arguably they may mean more if they are adding clubs FIRST teams. That is the move ECNL should take to seriously hurt GAL EDP etc. Grab the top clubs from each and similar leagues, start them in ECNL R with the carrot for promotion.
