They are ranked so high because they play of age. All the good 2009 teams have already begun playing up.

Truth is that any kid older than 10 who is any good has already been identified as a prospect by a foreign team. If your kid hasn't been, odds are he sucks in the big scheme of things. All pay to play teams (even those calling themselves "academies" are no big deal to anyone serious about soccer). Kids on teams like NYCFC may be a touch better, but are still mediocre compared to top international competition. Most kids hopefully are realistic enough to know that, and can nonetheless have fun playing soccer for recreation while going to school and trying to prepare for life in the real world. Those with other delusions are pathetic. The best they can hope for is to play Division I soccer at some soccer school with 5th rate academics, after which they will probably wind up selling used cars or insurance for a paltry $100k a year.

Even if these delusional idiots' kids could make an MLS team as an adult, it wouldn't be saying much. MLS players largely suck compared to players in the good countries. And look at the pathetic salaries of most MLS players - that says it all. Most don't even make $1 million a year. A kid out of a good business school (Harvard, Wharton) makes that much about 3 or less years into their careers. Soccer is a (hopefully fun) side activity. With the exception of maybe 2-3 players per year in the United States, all the kids suck at soccer. Hopefully, they are planning their lives accordingly.
