Ecnl staff should have reached out to the colleges to invite them. The list of colleges is pathetic especially when every player we know says she is being recruited by the same Florida colleges and they aren’t even listed as coming to watch.

ECNL is doing these players an injustice by not having the 99/00 ECNL Composite teams invited to the ECNL Winter Showcase in Sanford when the coaches will be there.

Yes they may occasionally see someone they'll reach out to, but 95% of their time is carefully choreographed so they can see as many players on their pre-set list as possible, players who they've already been talking too. If your club hasn't explained that to you then you are the wrong club

Every player on the team says St Leo and Florida Southern are recruiting her. The numbers don’t add up.

Educate yourself on how the process really works or YOU will be paying that college tuition bill out of pocket and your kid will be playing intramural soccer with the rec crowd.

Coached have hundreds of players write them each year. Some student volunteer compiles lists based on criteria set by the head coach. Shotgun invites get sent by email to players.
At tournaments: Elite players get noticed, Excellent players get noticed, game changers get noticed.
This is a composite showcase. Most of the athletic scholarship money for this age group is gone.
If you player has not been "noticed" for her play by now, I hope she has been writing, sending video or web profiles to the school she wants to come see her play and hitting a couple ID camps. Otherwise all you have done is invested in your DOC's car payment the last 10 years.

That said some clubs don't do a good job directing players as to what level to focus on. Of course players want to aim high, it's natural. But an experienced coach or DOC needs to help them focus on places that are a realistic fit as well. Kind of like applying to colleges in general - have a few reach schools, lots of pretty likely ones, a few safeties just in case. Plenty of players waste their time, energy and money aiming too high. Even if they can get a spot the chances they will play is very low if they're a late pick

We learned to target, target, target. A handful of schools and direct a lot of energy toward them. Have daughter establish and maintain communication with the coach and build on that.
