How did CLW get robbed? They got robbed when our final minute goal was pulled out of the net? Check the video. Slow it down. They arrived at the exact same time and the high reach of the keeper missed the ball. It's a direct header strike at the precise moment they meet in the air.
You show clearly you have a parent bias as you go so far as to say he should have been Yellow Carded? Nuts. Reckless? Come on.
It's a clean play by a 5'4" player that beat a 6' keeper on a 50/50 ball. Watch...

CLW is a very poor DA team playing in the weakest conference in the country - only have a decent record because they played the actual worst DA teams in the country at the recent winter showcase (one team with one win all year, another with literally zero wins all year). IMG is actually the worst DA team I have ever seen. At the showcase, and at your game.
You are their equals, but I dont think I would brag about it, these rotten apples not very representative of the entire barrel. The average DA team across the country is much, much better...

1. Team about as good as a club team can be. Some talent on squad.
2. Called IMG correctly as weak after loss which was probably not easy to do
3. FCF beat CLW two shots off the cross bar, majority of possesseion and disallowed goal but got away with a PK non call late ... clearwater is probably pretty embarrassed right now.

Biggest 99B winners & losers (so far) coming out of IMG Showcase
As this is TS Florida, I will focus on Florida teams primarily.
Supergroup
Winners
FCF, showing they can play with anyone with a win over DEPORTIVO TOLUCA FC and a draw with Clearwater DA (though they have to be disappointed with their showing vs. IMG DA).
Losers
From an expectation standpoint, it would have to be Clearwater. Although they sit atop the table for the SE, they only garnered a draw out of three games. I am sure they hoped for better results.
1st Bracket
Losers
LEG-A-Z SOCCER CAIMANS 1999 is at the bottom of their bracket with two losses out of the gate. This team's rankings far outweighs their ability as they bogarted GotSoccer points from LAST YEAR'S U19 team. Now the chickens come home to roost when they have to perform. This season they are 5th in a watered-down FSPL and only reached the semi's of the Disney Q (which was pretty much a rec tournament-no top teams competed).
2nd Bracket
Winners ACADEMY PLAYPRO appears to be a team put together for showcases, only played IMG and Tampa Bay Labor Day Showcases. They appear to be a ghost team from Florida, no record, no roster.
Losers IMG ACADEMY IMG U19 BOYS Currently in 3rd, but they've already played the weakest team-unlikely to finish higher than 3rd.
3rd Bracket
Winners Cutler Ridge SC Fury 2000 Boys White came into this tournament ranked 190th in the country and 14th in the state. They currently sit atop their group and ACYS took a shellacking from GPS MA. Even if ACYS beats Cutler Ridge on Monday, GPS MA will probably beat IFK Maryland Blue and there will be a 3 way tie for first. Cutler Ridge will be poised to take the group on GD, as they are up 3 over GPS MA. Cutler Ridge only needs a draw to win it outright.
Losers ACYS is the defending State Cup Champion. Not winning a bracket comprised of teams nationally ranked below 190 is pathetic.
4th Bracket
Winners FUTSOC FUTALAN (who the hell is this?), ranked 277 in the country and is going to win the group. Davie United was last year's FSPL Cinderella team for a while, but not looking good for coming out a winner.
5th Bracket
Winners The Chargers B1999 Premier is the highest ranked team in the group (#172), but is tied in points with Weston (#434). They will squeak by winning their group on GD, though.
Losers Also the Chargers because they should have won the group outright with 9 points. Talk about playing down to the competition.
6th Bracket I cannot understand why Clearwater was not placed in this bracket instead of Kendall, at #172 they would have faced #165, #185 & #181.
Winners It will be the winner of CSU & PBG. If either wins, it will be a big feather in their cap. If they draw and CSU squeaks by it won't be as impressive for them.
Losers Kendall, for being placed in the wrong bracket. This team is pathetic, currently 9th in NPL. Their GotSoccer has a picture of them with a tournament medal from U16! That's probably the last time they were relevant.
7th Bracket
Winners Tampa Rangers are almost statistically the winners of the group after two games. The ONLY way they could lose their group is if they lose to the St. Pete Raiders tomorrow and somehow Dunedin Stirling (0-2 with a -9 GD) beats Braden River. That's not gonna happen. With a National Rank of #534, they would not be expected to have such a commanding lead of the group.
Losers The St. Pete Raiders came into this with the highest ranking (#399) and have virtually no path to victory, and will finish probably 3rd in a rec soccer bracket.

Rules
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostPuzzling why FC would uses players already in college rather then those trying to get noticed in order to get into college.
1 - The rules to allowed teams to bring (3) 1998 players. As a non-academy 'club' we wanted to make sure we were competitive based on that rule, especially against high quality academy players from Toluca, etc. Last year we were the youngest team, except for the USMNT, and it showed.
2 - Injuries and fatigue killed us. Other teams had at least one day off, but we played 4 games in 4 days and we were not in great shape to start. It's not an excuse, but we are lucky to train two days a week this time of year and our boys were wrecked by the third day.
We held the two college player 98s until the last day and only used them as an answer to fatigue. The other 98 we played at keeper is actually not playing college ball and was looking to get seen and placed.
In the end, we played everyone, even splitting time between keepers of different levels. With four days of play, the whole team saw pretty good playing time. We also are pretty aware of which coaches are at which games and we expose the kids based on their interests and the interests of the coaches.

I hear the CLW folks thought they were cheated, and maybe they have a case on a PK (which they would have to convert), but they didn't have anything close to the impact of two possible goals disallowed.
