What planet do you live on? This is absolute fiction. Been at an ECNL club for 3 years and have not seen any of this.

I would have to agree with the list. I have been involved with ECNL teams and absolutely there are more than enough crazy, fanatical parents who are convinced, because there kid is on an ECNL team they are going straight to the national team soon. To help ensure this, they absolutely form a group with other fanatical nut job parents so as to silence any others who might complain. Now understand, these parents form a group with other "select" families. One member is typically a team mom, as this provides access to the coach. The members of this small group sometimes then get together and pay for "training" (which could be considered a bribe to pay their kids all the time, but I digress) to the coach. Now all of these connections ensure that this group has enough clout with the coach that their kids will always be on the field, no matter how many 4-0 defeats the team might suffer, because certainly it could not have been this elite group of superstars fault. It has to be the other kids, who were shunned from this click. This is reality, I have seen it over and over, the butt-kissing, the extra training payments, and you're kidding yourself if you don't think it makes a difference. Soccer is such a subjective sport, more than almost any other out there. With basketball, football, baseball, there are objective measures for performance- points, assists, tackles, batting average, HRs, RBIs, but with soccer there is basically none (goals and assists, which happen 0-3 times on average per game). This means it is really just someone's opinion of who might be the better player. These subjective opinions can easily be swayed by outside factors. So, those posters who respond by saying "oh your kid just sucks and should play rec," I respond by saying I doubt your kid is actually a superstar, and that if you put your kid with 10 others, with a completely random coach, there's a good chance your kid may not be as great as you think. But, it's Ok, keep thinking they are the next superstar, because we all know you as a parent are willing to pay and kiss up to whoever you need to, to make sure your little kid is always on the field. Wow, aren't you special. One day your kid grows up and then their overbearing Mommy and Daddy aren't there to bribe their boss so that they think they are great. Reality hits hard sometimes, just give it some time.
