With sports though, you can't play with masks and the contact is close for several sports. But that isn't even tricky part. In this day of contact tracing, say school A plays School B.
A few days later School B calls school A to say four of the athletes who played in the game tested positive. Now what does school A do? Isolate the whole team for two weeks? Isolate them for a week and then get everyone tested? Roll the dice and hope?

Like someone said, strange times and not always rational behavior. It will what it will be. If it happens, fantastic. If it doesn't my kids will be disappointed but understanding. Maybe you should try that?

If soccer were to move to spring, then there would be no spring club soccer, just fall and winter.
They classified soccer as a "moderate" risk which makes it less clear on what might happen. Some sports make total sense to move - baseball, golf and track can be in the fall. Volleyball should be delayed (indoors). A big issue is there are heavy overlaps with football/soccer and spring LAX players. I think LAX was "moderate" as well.

Seriously? No spring club soccer? You’re high. Spring Club soccer (older ages) won’t give a flying fûck if Hs decides to move soccer from fall to spring. Club soccer will stay in the spring and HS will look like JV across the board.

Yup or CIAC allow you to play club & HS?
            Not the best idea either.

Not to mention you can open windows on bus to get airflow to reduce risk.

BTW , I was joking about mask working.

If high school soccer gets cancelled it will be due to the fact the state won't allow youth sports. Zero chance youth sports go on and school sports don't. Yes, that means jokewood will be cancelled too.

It may go the other way around - if they don't allow HS sports then youth sports become harder to justify. School is the focus now, other youth activities will be addressed later. That would also mean all kinds of indoor activities also.

How is there going to be high schools sports in the fall with no vaccine? No way will high schools be able to afford to test these kids and the districts will use this as an easy way to save a lot of money. Good by fall season and most likely winter

Ha! You think schools will pay for student or staff testing? At least teachers have good healthcare and sick leave. Many families do not. Parents will send their kids to school sick- they do already - because they have to work.

Since you bring up costs let’s look at yesterday here in CT
                        11,488 test conducted & 58 positive
                        $1,148,800 spent in testing yesterday
58 positive test that probably represent 30 new cases of which 15-20 have no symptoms.
That is $19,806 spent per positive test.

There is no way we can continue to spend like this for testing. Just not sustainable.

^ I agree it's unsustainable but your math is off - the tests cost far more than that.

                            Don't be so certain.

Can't speak as well to the boys' side of things, but girls' high school soccer has a huge social element to it that remains one of the best perceived benefits these players crave.

You'll really test the pull of the ECNL if high school girls soccer moves into the spring. Some girls will hang in for the club play, but far more than any realize now will simply opt to play high school soccer.

And there is virtually no chance that the CIAC will allow out of school same sport in season. A fundamental issue at the CIAC core.

I'm no CIAC fan but I agree with the rule - it's too much to do both.

You would be completely wrong unless college soccer moves to the spring. Otherwise, whether kids want to or not, they know they need to play club to get recruited. Only kids that would play would be the non-club players or players already committed. Unless their future college coaches told them to play club instead. Which they probably would. Might have enough numbers but man would it be awful.
