MA soccer recruits at a major disadvantage

    Other states are playing.

    Other recruits have new video.

Players in MA have been handcuffed, hogtied and left to watch their chances die a slow and painful death.

The clock is ticking and doors are closing.

It is terrible. Play some competitive scrimmages and tape them to have footage to send out.
Nothing is currently in person anyway.

Nah. Had the pleasure of talking with a couple of 04s (juniors) while watching the seniors play a great game this weekend. They were wrapped up, going Ivy and ACC. Like every year the recruit worthy players find themselves with offers, and the parents of the undifferentiated find excuses

There may be some crappy attitudes around like above but most teammates are supportive of the team effort for all the players that want to play college ball to continue to pursue recruiting.

Pretty much. Our issue isn't the shutdown so much as the NCAA blackout, the extensions given to all current college players for eligibility and the uncertainty around programs recruiting efforts right now. It's been a very slow slog. The programs we've been in touch with have a few committed players in the age group, obviously the top recruits, but they are way behind their usual commitment numbers and we're not getting a ton of information as to where things stand.

In years past, my kid would likely have been a mid-level recruit for a mid-level D1 program, but with Covid, it's made things less clear. The next few weeks worth of conversations will likely determine her next moves as she has plenty of full game footage from Jan and Feb that coaches have asked for.

The OP you quoted is an ***** and likely a division snob, as D2 and D3 have been pushed way back given how far behind D1 is right now with recruiting. Plenty of D3's are still working on '21's, never mind '22's.

Agreed...would add that the D3's that are still working on '21s are very low level D3 at obscure schools.

Right, obviously top tier D3 programs have an advantage recruiting-wise and will fill out earlier. In conversations with some friends whose D's are looking at D3 programs, three local New England D3 schools that were in the conversation still have offers out with '21's.

And are you saying that is a atypical or typical? For a player who is just not ready to decide about college when the D1 schedule dictates - is the D3 process normally conducted senior year?

Not the poster but yes D3 goes into senior year. Not so much with the Emory's of the world and other very top schools, but theres' a lot of D3 schools out there. Fall is usually the last of it and a D3 coach will usually expect you to apply either early decision or early action which is typically around November. They still want to know if you're coming and to have as much locked in as they can. This late senior year they're filling in lower level spots or for kids who didn't get admitted. So yes it can happen this late but it's the tail end

Yes there are some very small, never heard from schools that have sports. They may be great fits for some students and players. The top D3 programs and top D3 schools are mostly wrapped up at this point.
