Sorry, they played all last summer with no masks and there were few if any transmissions via sports .... Two big soccer studies showed zero risk (San Diego and Wisconsin). Either we follow the science or we don't .... Very simple. The answer is we never did and it's apparent to everyone that wants to see it and we simply don't believe all of the different rhetoric that all of these various health departments or leaders espouse. It's been a year .... This thing will continue to wind down through next spring until it is gone entirely by Summer of 2022. That was about how long Spanish flu took without a vaccine as well. Despite what Biden and Baker tell you, they can not beat mother nature and never could. So, it's time to get busy living or get busy dying. -Red

We just came back from SUSA tournament in NY. Most of the club traveled down. On return, not allowed to practice until a negative COVID test (or quarantine completed). Stayed remote from school until negative test result as well. It's a PITA, but it works.
As far as playing opponents from outside MA in regular season, just schedule the matches for NH or CT. Add it to the expense MA families must absorb to play soccer (or do anything) in this state. As far as school goes, most schools are hybrid or remote, so that is really a non-issue. You can get free COVID testing, though the rapid test seems to cost $160+, but that is also a non-issue considering most testing comes back within 48 hours.
Until TPTB decide to open things up, or you want to move (we do), it's our reality.

Come on nobody missing school after tournaments or any other trips.

Nope no quarantines my kids stay at grandmas in RI all the time and go back to school on Monday. No quarantine is necessary. They go out to dinner and shop whatever. Not quarantining for crossing state lines no way.

Not a chance. You think clubs like that will risk being shut down? Not a chance. And even if they were willing to flaunt the rules in this case it requires a vast majority of the parents to do the same or to comply with the rules and repeatedly test, quarantine their kids. Again. Not a chance. Just being realistic.

My hockey player got off a flight back from a Dallas tournament and drove straight to a local game and played.

Why do you think the fall season was a mess and and leagues like ECNL are already moving spring games around? The clubs can't be perceived as encouraging parents to break the rules. And you are wrong about parents willingly violating the rules. The majority won't do what you're suggesting. Some will. But not most.

Big clubs and big leagues are not going to run seasons involving MA teams where they have to assume everyone is breaking the rules in order for it to work. They can't do that. For a tournament where it's a one shot deal - sure. Every weekend for regular season games? No way. The fact that games are already being moved/cancelled/postponed should tell you something.

Any local CVS minute clinic does rapid tests for free w/insurance. Small fee without. In any state. CVS.com and put in your zip code.
Kids can get tested before even returning to their home state.
