    LastPlanet PNW G03-G00 ranks

    Second cut at WA-OR girls U11-U14 strength ratings for 2014-2015

    Jan 23, 2015

    http://lastplanetranking.***********...rls-index.html

    Just G03-G00. I got too frustrated with the name changes for G99s and didn't do them. Too many A teams adopting ECNL and then B team calling themselves A team.

    Send corrections to lastplanetranking -at- gmail. I won't get PMs here since I'm rarely on this forum. I'm on the WPS forum.

    What's here:
    * all the fall league data from WA, OR, ID (RCL, PSPL, NPSL, DIII, OPL, OYS, NWL, IYS)
    * winter league data from WA and OR
    * summer tournaments, fall tournaments
    * FWRL, NWCL
    * state cups: OPL (Directors), WYS (Founders)

    Notes
    * No data from last year. I'm still annoyed by this year's fad of calling the A and B team the same names (xFire, WPFC and 3RSC did this!). I still haven't gone back to link new names to last year's data.
    * It was too hard to keep track of xFire's A & B teams (because they use the same A designation), that I switched all the xFire names to coach name.
    * If a team used ECNL with its name sometimes, I entered that as a separate team. pre-ECNL and ECNL Reserves I assumed were alternate names for an existing team.

    If you have a G01, go to the Western G01 tables (yellow nav bar on the blog) which are based on AllForOnes western states data set
    http://lastplanetranking.************/p/g01.html
    AllForOnes' G01 database is much more complete than my G01 data.

    Note the match predictor for girls is linked to the Western G01 model only. Sorry.

    WA-OR girls U11-U14 strength ratings updated for 2014-2015

    April 5, 2015

    http://lastplanetranking.***********...rls-index.html

    Just G03-G00. I know it looks like G99 is there at the top but that's old. There are errors, for sure. Email me at lastplanetranking -at- gmail so I can fix them. I won't get PMs on this forum since I only post announcements here (I'm active on the WPS forum).

    What's was added:
    * added the winter/spring league matches (RCL, PSPL, NPSL, OPL, OYS, NWL)
    * winter/spring tournaments (PacNW mainly)
    * state cups: WYS Championship and President's
    * have not updated the ECNL U14 matches so not many of those games there

    If you have a G01, go to the Western G01 tables (yellow nav bar on the blog) which are based on AllForOnes western states data set
    http://lastplanetranking.************/p/g01.html
    AllForOnes' G01 database is much more complete than mine.

    Note the match predictor for girls is linked to the Western G01 model only. Sorry.

      In the G02 for PNW, there are a handful of teams that appear to have only played a summer tournament or two and are ranked like Utah at #8. When do these teams fall off the list? If these teams aren't active, shouldn't they be removed? I'm assuming these teams fell apart.

        Hmm, only teams that have played in the last 6 months should show up on the main tables. If you clicked 'all teams in the database' that will show everything, but if you click 'OR' table only, that should only have teams that have played in the last 6 months.

        If you post and example, I'll see if there is something up.

        Thx,

        LP

          I added on the G00 ECNL matches for all ECNL teams (nationwide). You can see how the G00 ECNL teams match up against other PNW teams here:

          http://lastplanetranking.***********...0-ratings.html

          Note, the league never enters the calculations. Only the score and team identifier. ECNL teams are at the top because they tend to beat PNW top teams. Also, keep in mind that the algorithm uses all matches. I hear all the time "but we tied/beat that top team, how can they be ranked so much higher". Yeah, but you also tied/lost to a much lower team. The algorithm doesn't cherry-pick the good games; it uses all games.

          Note, during U14, the ECNL WA teams play in the RCL Div 1, NWCL and sometimes these teams also play in tournaments which allows me to rank the U14 ECNL teams against the others. After U15, the ECNL teams don't play the non-ECNL teams very ofter so I cannot rank them.

            I clicked on all the teams in the database. Still, there are about 5 teams that only played 1 or 2 summer tournaments that are unusually ranked high given how much they actually played. Do teams drop of from the all teams list if they aren't active?

              I checked all the oregon tables and don't see any high ranked teams that didn't play fall or spr league:

              If you look at the "All" tables, like this
              http://lastplanetranking.***********...0-ratings.html
              you will see all teams in the database and it will include any team that played in the last 13 months. But a team with only 3-10 games has a very uncertain estimate of its strength, that's why those teams don't appear on the main tables. So, the main tables (anything other than "All") are the ones to look at.

                I looked at your boys ranking for my sons age group and it looks pretty accurate. With the split we don't play all of the teams ranked ahead of us, but I think that they would take us. And the teams ranked below us are teams we generally beat. Honestly however, I pretty much know who we would beat and who would beat us. Your rankings list is more important to me in letting me know what teams are out there since we don't always play them. We may tryout at a different team this year and it's good to know what teams exist and how good they are.

                    Just G03-G00. I just haven't had time to add G99 and up with all the name changes that happens with that age and ECNL.

                    What's was added:
                    * updated the winter/spring league matches (RCL, PSPL, NPSL, OPL, OYS, NWL)
                    * OR and WA end of season tournaments (OYS/WYS/OPL State Cups, Presidents cups, WA Cup)
                    * A couple more Idaho tournaments from April
                    * have not updated the ECNL U14 matches since April 5th
