Is it my imagination or should the U.S. have received a red after the penalty in the box?

i agree. Just surprised it is not being talked about. Both U.S goals were scored after. If they were playing down a player game would have been different. Congrats to the U.S!

Should have been a red card for USA.
USA should NOT have been given a PK.

If you think the USA would have scored that goal with ten women and Germany focusing on defense instead of an all out attack you're out of your mind.

Couldn't agree more. Really a horrible call by the official. Hate to see it influence the game the way it did. Glad USA won. Wish it had been a cleaner win.

They dominated play much of the game. The outcome, however arrived at, reflected the play. The Germans ran out of luck, used it all up against France

Yes and no. First half USA controlled play but only had a few chances. Alex Morgan had a real good look but didn't convert. None the less 0-0 at half. Germany came out more determined in the second half. Obviously missing the penalty didn't help. However if Julie gets the red and the USA plays down a player this is a different game. To make matters worse the USA should never have been awarded a penalty kick. The foul clearly was outside the box. The USA played well. However hard to say it was deserved with how the could have changed with proper officiating.

I'm glad USA won. However it was clearly a red. Last defender takes away a clear scoring chance = a red card. I think the USA was the better team but who knows what happens if they had to play short handed with the score 0-0 and 30 minutes left.

And it's still likely Germany would've had the win if not for one more horrendous ref (we go down to 10 men and have to play without our best defender by far). Awful officiating will be the hallmark of this entire WC.

Japan will return the U.S. back to Earth 2-0 after beating England by the same score.

This post here perfectly illustrates the state of U.S Soccer. Clueless Americans watching women's soccer just because their girl plays a little travel. Sad....

What is missing in your life is just that, A LIFE. Seriously delusional. How about why would anyone watch cars driving in a circle (nascar), or any sport where you have to take a break after every play and reassess what is happening (american football), or diving, where all you are judging is form, a very subjective sport; all sports have their spectators or they wouldn't even be around. People like a variety of entertainment and that is fine it is their choice - who are you to judge what is best or worthwhile? Are you just slamming americans, or are you really the guy that is traumatized everytime a woman is publically congratulated for her athletic skill? Yeah, its the later.
