not the point. The upset does not make the loser unworthy. you cant boil a team and a season down to one game.

      Pepperdine vs UVA

The latter hasn't been as good since MB and MD left. The former tied UCLA. Possible upset.

      USF vs Florida

      Should be close.

      Arizona vs FSU

The former had a great season for them. FSU has been inconsistent this year.
A Mass board talking UVA and saying "hasn't been as good since MB and MD left."
Most teams that lose 2 players like that suffer:) A UVA "not as good" means they are "only" considered at max last 16 material.

meanwhile in the land of the eagles we are rejoicing as top team in NE ....LEVELS

Who cares. Good teams lose in the playoffs all the time. That's why you play the game. You are the one advocating limiting the playoffs to the top 5 power conferences since no other team are worthy to be on the field with them in your assessment.

To me, a team establishes its "worth" in the regualr season over a larger sample size of games. that is not erased if the lose one game in tough circumstances.
Agreed, if you really want to know who the best team is, take the best 8 and arrange a round robin competition and you will know. Americans love Wild Cards, underdogs, dark horses, etc. Do nothing all season then make an improbable run, like NC St and Villanova did in BBall. Very entertaining but not a true test.

College football tries that every year and narrowing the field down to such a low # is impossible and totally subjective. This is big F'ing country mate.

In reality it is a better test. The better team has to stop the improbable Cinderella run. If you can't do it, maybe the "better team" was the one who was overrated.

As AD of UNC has said many times, these lengthy tournaments are more a test of endurance and not skill. So fine if you want single elimination. 64 teams do not deserve a shot at being National Champion. If you are #7 or 8 in your conference, you should go home now.

Europe is a big place too and for Champions league they set up round robin events to distill down the best teams.

Apples and Oranges, but make the season Fall and Spring and go for it.

Not the AD, but Anson Dorrance, who has won more Women's College Soccer Championships than everyone else combined, Godfather of the WNT, and father of American Women's soccer.

College Cup action: Princeton 1 NC St 1 going to OT
If this is Europe, Princeton wins 3-1 on aggregate.

Princeton/NC St Princeton dominated today and won 2-0 earlier at NC St., but today, PK's will decide the winner.

Princeton wins 5-4 in PK's. Took 7 shots. NC St hit first 4 then missed last 3. A Princeton freshman slotted the GW. Nice win, but whoever won will get mugged by UNC next.
