    World Class

Does anyone know why the World Class boys don't have DA badges beyond U-14? And why the girls aren't allowed in the GDA?

My family is moving to the area this summer from Holland, and both of my kids (boy 12, and girl 9) play. Looking for a club for them both. Willing to travel a bit, but not to far. We're moving to Rye.

There's a vocal element who dislike everything about DA. In fact, they try to type and never use those letters if at all possible.

World Class (the name is misleading, trust me) partnered with another club who was in DA. They won't be next year. I believe a club Sky Blue may be your best option or look into Connecticut.

        Good luck.

        le oranje!!

I would look at NYSC. It is waaay closer to you and the boys program is far superior. They have DA at all ages and consistently have kids move onto NYCFC (and Red Bulls occasionally for that matter). Girls program is great at your daughter's age. You might need to switch her to anotehr club around 13 or 14, depending on the league they're in, but between 9-12 it is a very good program.

World Class FC is the destination club for both boys and girls. Their current 2006 boys are far better than any NON MLS club around and most MLS clubs. The teams graduate out from BDA and go into Boys ECNL which allows the boys to play HS.

On the girls side, the teams are very strong. The club NEVER had GDA and always had their teams in ECNL. They have partnered with NYCFC, the men's MLS club to field teams together at World Class, as NYCFC has pulled out of the girls DA due to lack luster talent in the girls DA.

Many current NYSC players leave and head across the bridge to World Class. Those NYSC people are all haters because of it.

Plus, the girls DoC is a freakin' loon. Gets himself thrown out of games in tournaments and the then position it as a "good thing".

                    Very cultish over there.

If you are moving to Rye go to FC Westchester. Club's U17s just made the DA playoffs. Coaching staff is very good.

you are out of your mind if you claim WC is a better boys club than NYSC. Not even close.

Girls side, debatable and only once you make it to the 11v11 teams. "NYCFC" didnt pull out of DA because of lackluster talent. They were WC with a different shirt and only pulled out because ECNL gave WC an ultimatum to stop playing in both leagues. That was business and had ZERO to do with NYCFC, who never supported the girls program in any way at all. You can think WCFC is a better girls program and that is fine but there's no need to make up stories.

                          Worst of the clubs

Listen, first off ... welcome to the USA, we're thrilled to have ya. Second, this is going to be a rough transition for you. US soccer is/has been working hard to make the youth environment better, but there is a bit of yester-years left in the revamping that is 10 years on.

NYSC is a great rising club that offers GDA for girls, and DA for boys all the way through. The boys program is probably the best in the area outside of MLS clubs, which we'll get to later.

World Class has had strong teams at younger ages for boys, but haven't earned the DA badge and won't at older ages. Its a shame really, because its a good strong boys younger age club, they just don't have what the DA wants for whatever reason. The girls teams are strong, but they play in the ECNL, which is a highly politicized environment. The head of PDA (another strong girls team), a founding member of the ECNL has a vested interest in the success of ECNL, and so he supports that. He is also a college coach, and it serves him to let his players play in HS while he coaches college. Don't even get me started on the scum of the coaches at World Class, its just filthy and not worthy of discussion. But they have the same self serving interest with ECNL.

Girls DA is new, and it has had some wrinkles to launch, but it will easily win the day ...

FC Westchester is a club of yester-years
Beachside FC just shuttered its girls program

BARCA in Long Island is not a bad option, but its just to far from you to go over the bridge every day (which you would also do at World Crap (Class).

My honest advice is to have a look at NYSC, its local for you (10 mins drive to their home facility in Purchase) and has a good boys and girls program for you... it'll feel right for you.

Just head to their website and find out all you can, send some emails and start a conversation.

This chat room, titled World Class, should be renamed World Crap. Not because their teams aren't good, they are. But because the quality of people that flock to that cesspool represent the worst of what we have to offer here in the States, and specifically in this wonderful area you just moved to.

                          Good luck to you,
