The previous u17 wc (2016) with just us club travel girls waa the worst in US History didn't advance out group play. DA was not even created yrt.
What a horrible example to lean on.

So the u17 team of 2020 can't do any worse with the DA stars in two weeks time.

Then the 2018 u20 womens world cup was a roster full of the same us club travel agents as well. They stunk.

Was talking about 2018 u17 WC.

Coaches were stuck on selecting mostly DA players to promote their own league.

Did you not know the youth WC is every 2 years?

Also with regards to u20 roster selection in 2018:

Twelve players on the roster just completed their freshman collegiate seasons, four wrapped up their sophomore campaigns while four currently play for youth clubs- all in the U.S. Soccer Girls’ Development Academy.


This was from US Soccer's own press release. Notice how they are biased in promoting DA.

No data supports any achievement for nat teams when the league the players come from is based on showcasing/travel and not competition/dev. You can't escape this truth.

Recovering from this episode of chasing college roster spots will take years.

The 1st team or senior nats roster has not yet been infected by the travel/showcase virus. But the next cycle may be stuck with a majority of these types and suffer the same fate as the younger squads.

But then again, this is a stupid and pointless feud. Unlike the boys side, there likely never will be a robust system of professional academies developing girls, and many clubs are focusing on clearing the low hurdle of NCAA ball.

Look at the NFL, NBA and MLB. World's best males in the sport.

BTW, women don't compete in any of those activities.

US Soccer has more than earned their stripes in the outlier activity Women's World Cup.
Not really that tough for the states with their unique title ix initiative and while the rest of the world females just sat on the bench/sidelines for the better part of the last 40 years. But the world is catching up as globally women get more opportunities.
BTW, showcasing for title ix aid dollars, is not the thing in other countries.
