    Labor Day Tournaments

Best Labor Day Tournament for girls? And any advice for traveling over holiday weekend?

    #2
Melbourne Beaches Labor Day Tournament. Good competition from the east coast, south florida teams. Very well organized.
    Hotels, fields are all close.
Great way to kick off the season

      Huh?

Why would anybody drive 3 hours north to play in a second division tournament?
      It's ok for U-9 or U-10 teams.
Or if your coach "needs" to start the season with an easy trophy.
Otherwise a complete waste of time and money for South Florida teams.

Whats with the cut off at u14? How can a tournament be new and elite at the same time?

Isn't ithis the same tournament that cancelled at last minute last year and left teams stranded. Just a new name so folks won't connect it?

It's a Junior showcase thus the u14 cut off, just as Disney separates theirs as well. New well...because it's new.. elite because the top teams across the state and the northeastern US have committed.

okay, still a bit confused. who are the 'top' teams that have committed? if they have committed, why isn't the link activated? before I commit my team, I would like to see who they are. Just having a club name doesn't mean their best teams are going, especially in every age group.

We've got several players that can't play Labor Day Weekend and thinking about Adidas in Jax late aug. Any one know if any central/south FL teams going? Would like to know teams before we register.

FC America, Ponte Vedra, Brandon, Florida Knights, OCYS have all agreed to do each others tournaments; OCYS even cancelled theirs to accommodate this. It's early July so you probably won't see a list until late July or early August.

There is another post on the GPS/Florida Knights Showcase here: http://talking-soccer.com/TS4/showthread.php?t=107004

                              Don't do the Jacksonville tournament.
It is full of 2nd division teams and you earn no points.
