Who the heck is going to pay for girls?! Answer: nobody. there's no money in women's soccer except youth soccer parents and the women's national team. anything in between is losing money

SI think they got the go ahead pretty late also, after most players had decided where they would go for this year. Supposedly NYCFC hardly had any players try out this year, and they were a top club year 1. If you were going to try GDA you'd think players would go to the top club for a tryout. A very weak inaugural year and the departure of several clubs back to ECNL made year 2 look like even more of a gamble. The league was too big from the get go - too many clubs for insufficient demand.

NYSC have been concentrating on younger age groups where they more actively recruited. Their 05 girls team has been together a long time and is pretty good. The 2006's will age into DA in the fall and also should be pretty good.

US Youth soccer is pushing hard to compete with US Club's (ECNL), and with the acquisition of EDP they have a very strong network to build out from. Former GDA and BDA clubs (non pro) can join US Youth/EDP and be just fine. Also US Youth may try and push ODP harder as an identification platform.

Oh but they will play Empire and Seacoast United this fall so I stand corrected...against that competition they will be pretty good.

World Class is the natural fit. Why anyone wants to drive the Merritt north at rush hour is foolish.
