I suggest you look at a Globe. The world of women’s soccer has about 10-16 decent teams in total and hundreds of minnows or neophytes.

    It is, what it is.

Ecnl is a joke now. Best teams left, worst teams (Oregon) are now playing even worse teams.

Complete waste of time and money. Just look at both crossfire and fc p college commits and the state of their 00 teams.

If you look at ALL the Ecnl teams, they are are losing to USYS teams if they are having to play outside of their gutted league.
Who were these best teams that left? GDA had to allow in teams like the Thornz Asylum (rec at best) just to fill out their divisions. Any good clubs that tried GDA in season 1 have returned to the ECNL, leaving the GDA probably 4th overall in talent behind ECNL, USYS, US Club NPL.

In 2017-18 US Club Soccer announced that US Soccer had created a Development Academy format for girls aged U14, U15, U16/17 & U17/18, similar to the Boys DA created in 2007,

Since many of their US Club member clubs left for the US Soccer Development Academy , they broke down the departures by division/region with club name and the NWSL club.

Depends on age group. Thorns 00/01 is pretty good.

There is some truth to what you say, but you lost some credibility with the extra BS added.

Crossfire Premier, San Diego Surf, Colorado Real, SoCal Blues, Solar, Texans, etc... are all still still doing DA.

Maybe they will leave next year so there is no need to add the extra BS.

I think ECNL is slightly better than DA, but not by a huge margin. Last year, I would have said they were even or DA was slightly better with Slammers, PDA, Eclipse, Hawks, etc...

Some of the teams on the list are not so great.

Some of the better teams on the list decided to go with ECNL only for the 2018-2019 season.

More on the better teams on the list will go with ECNL only for the 2019-2020 season.

If you want to talk about salvage then lets talk about Michigan Jaguar replacing Michigan Hawks or Seacoast United replaces Stars of Mass. Jaguars and Seacoast are definitely the best clubs in the US along with Oklahoma Energy, Sporting Omaha, etc..

              Life goes go.

You lost all credibility with me the last two paragraphs. 15 of the top 20 clubs are still in the GDA.

Meanwhile Oregon teams aren’t even in the picture if you took the top 15 from any league.

It’s literally like bottom dwellers trying to say they are good by association.

US Club league was gutted is an understatement.

Whoa had no idea that many elite clubs were DA.

Both GDA and ECNL leagues are diluted. College coaches know this and it frustrates them. If I were players #12-20 on any of these teams, especially U15 and older, I would find a team I could be an impact player that would help me achieve my soccer goals. Especially with GDA and their subbing rules.

That's why college coaches were cheering for ECNL to dominate girls soccer--if they can herd all the top players into the same league, no need to bother recruiting elsewhere. Saves time and money.

Unfortunately, not good for girls (who would be forced into an expensive travel option to get noticed), nor for youth soccer in general; which is one reason the GDA exists.

Not all GDA teams are subsidized by their clubs. In those cases the travel is 2x the cost of ECNL because season is 2x as long. Take a look at the cost of the Reign Academy.

GDA exists because of a bunch of egos at USSF. It has nothing to do with trying to keep costs down for youth soccer.

My DD has played in both the ECNL and the GDA and while there are pluses and minuses with both leagues, the level of play is consistently higher in the GDA. As has been said, it is a shame that Oregon can't form one elite team on age, but the forces of youth soccer seem to consider their interests above that of the girls.

GDA has been only around a year and a half.

If you played ECNL prior then most of the teams that you played against in GDA would have been the same teams that you played against in ECNL the previous year. I don't think the teams got better just because they are now GDA. It is interesting that you think the level of play would be consistently higher because the pool was diluted with GDA over the previous ECNL pool

The forces of youth soccer give players (and parents) different options. It is not their responsibility to form a single elite team for Oregon. The reason why there is not one elite team on age is because players (and parents) are choosing different options rather than just one. If there was one option that was much better than the rest then I am sure most players (and parents) would go for the best option. If there was only one option, I believe it would be worse than what we have now because those who run it would know that you have no other options.
