i dont know about stupid, but we are rapidly becoming two separate "countries" - urban/coastal vs. everything else in between, with each group having very different ideas, desires, etc.

No they really aren't that different. Americans want the same things; jobs, a strong economy, stability, quality education, affordable health care, infrastructure. Both parties and trolls have taken where there are emotional hot button's - gun control, racism, immigration - and are pushing those divides further and further apart.

disagree. the two areas have completely different ideas on multiculturalism, globalization, religion, jobs growth, education, guns, environment, etc., etc. this is not created by fox, msnbc or russian trolls. lets be honest the differences are real. you have people on the coasts teaching their kids spanish or mandarin as a second language to compete in a global marketplace while the other group prefers "english only." it's not even liberal vs. conservative. you have many conservatives living in coastal areas who believe in limited government but also believe in globalization and multiculturalism. you will start to see candidates like bloomberg or schultz that represent this "urban conservative." it really is two cultural groups that are very different in how they view the world and what they want to accomplish. I am not saying that politics as they are with socialists and trump nationalists running the show is not exacerbating the differences.. it is, but that's not to say the differences are fake either.

This is spot on. Not because it fits my world view - but because the data supports it. I work with a ton of nationwide data for demographics, etc. in my profession and this is general characterization is true. The poster before this one is correct that there a lot of things in common that these two groups want but - there are several key areas where they diverge widely(multiculturalism, globalization, religion, gender identification, governments role in the economy, education, environment, health care, etc.). I just spent 2 weeks in Southern California and I was stunned at how differently folks out there view certain things compared to my relatives in Michigan.

Spend time in the CA central valley and you'll find people more like MI folk. Spend time in certain areas in MI and you'll people find more like SoCal folk. Broad brush strokes are an easy simplification but it really isn't that simple

Unfortunately, too many are. White right wing identity politics is clearly worse than left identity politics. Just look at what gets posted here. I don't like either of them though and we should move forward from all of this.

If you want to move forward, try not being so racist yourself. Always calling out white people for some made up sh*t. Tell us how countries governed by brown and black people have done historically.

                        We're waiting...

You're trying to flip again. Let's try to stay on topic. Show us PROOF of ANYTHING that would suggest racism towards black and brown people. Better yet, why don't we compare the number of riots, looting, meltdowns, illegal boarder crossings, etc... to what you see in a TRUMP crowd.

This country didn't become the greatest country on earth by being a free for all. You should probably stop looking at skin color so much. It's shameful.
