Let's face it, there are kids chosen all the time to play up to a level they probably shouldn't be at based on their current skill. Some of these kids will work really hard to rise up to the level of the players around them, others won't and will end up benched or dropping back down to a more reasonable level of play. Either way, you should be wishing the kid good luck and hoping he'll be in the former group rather than the latter. Congrats to the kid and here's hoping he makes the best of this opportunity.

Why does everyone assume that the kid is actually getting a scholarship? Seriously how would everyone feel if they knew he was only offered a walk-on spot with no athletic money attached. Given the kid's pedigree (or lack there of) that is probably the likely scenario.
