Kids just want to play and have fun. No reason they need to get cut down by people like you just because they aren't the best.
As long as the kids don’t get discouraged it’s ok to bring in B team players.

Timbers/Thorns is the 'soccer' Brand of Oregon, I must admit.

You don't pay a lot of money to develop soccer players that you can get elsewhere for free and pay $20K per year.

Other states have figured out they need to allow the kids to play high school or they get really thin talent.

Question
So if the the ECNL players are the best players why do posters say high school soccer is boot ball or rec, and if GDA players don’t make a difference and wouldn’t be impactful players in 6A why does it matter they don’t get to play high school soccer.
I think the deal is this. The GDA cost roughly halve of the ECNL, and US soccer is making this the nations top league. So put your talent where you should and stop spending your child’s college fund and choose the subsidized option. Or are you afraid?

With 0 goals against this year vs Oregon HS teams and the best DA player in Oregon wears a Jesuit shirt. This fact proves how valuable having just one DA player vs the rec level HS kids can be.
Results don't lie, Oregon is paper thin especially Girls HS talent.

You are not really getting it.
US Soccer is not subsidizing the DA league it is up to the individual clubs. The real cost of DA is 2x the cost of ECNL because the season is twice as long with more travel. The Thorns happen to subsidize the cost here because no one would do it if it was not half the cost. Even with the subsidy the turn out is not great. If you want to know what the real cost is then you should look to the Reign. If ECNL goes away, I guarantee you the Thorns Academy subsidies would be less. The good thing with the Thorns is that they are subsidizing with your money anyways thru league and State Cup fees.
Girl’s DA won’t last. April Heinrich is already leaving. Crossfire Premier, So Cal Blues, and Colorado Real are planning on leaving next year along with some additional clubs. Most of the players from Colorado Rush left to go to Colorado Rapids - Storm ECNL.
