Other countries' citizens pay for you. You should pay for them in the same way.

You use the word, "Free," but you don't understand why you are using it. Nobody thinks healthcare is free, nobody does. Like the war in Afghanistan and Donald's golfing trips, taxes paid by you and me but not by large corporations and avoided by the wealthy pay for these things. So, riddle me this: how come all the other industrialized countries can provide tax-based healthcare for all, how come that healthcare actually costs much less than American healthcare, and how come that healthcare is better than American healthcare? Why can't America implement successful healthcare for all when everyone else does?

Anyway, the reason this matters is what was posted a page or two back, some guy is just going to tough it out because he can't afford time off work and can't afford the doctor's visit. This doesn't help America be great; it helps America be sick. But, this isn't that guy's fault; it's the fault of our country to prioritize blowing up civilians in third-world countries and enriching Donald over our country's healthcare.

      Emergency treatment is free

If you have an accident or need emergency medical treatment, you will receive that treatment free of charge, regardless of your nationality or place of residence as long as that emergency treatment is delivered at:

a primary care facility or General Practitioner's office, known as a GP's Surgery
a hospital emergency room, called Accident and Emergency (A&E) or Casualty in UK hospitals
A walk-in center providing services similar to an emergency room.
An Emergency Room is free. Ummm ok..

If the business owner can't work because he is sick and can't get treatment that would get him back to work sooner how is that good for him or us?

Obviously, "free" in this case means free for the PT who is being treated. It does not mean "without cost." You know that and are being deliberately obtuse, because your political agenda requires it, or you are an idiot. This thread belongs in the political forum.

You are the idiot. Democrats use the term free to pander to the ill informed. I would advise you democrats to go read the plans by sanders and warren. Every plan competes with itself. Medicare for all.....paid for by higher taxes on rich and corporations, social security reform. Paid for by higher taxes on rich and corporations, cancel student debt is paid for by taxes on the rich, equal public schools, paid for by tax on the rich, free universal child care, paid for by taxes on the rich.....and so on. I just read all this on her website. What she doesn’t do, is define rich. Wait until you find out, rich is you, the family of four, wit( household income of 100k. Good luck. Anything she doesn’t take, the state of ct will.

Back to the thread topic...a sane perspective from "enemy of the people" WaPo 😆 Hardly hysteria inducing

                        One patient's perspective https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlo...isnt-that-bad/

Another good piece on the basics
                        https://www.washingtonpost.com/healt...t-coronavirus/

                        - common sense prevention that you should be doing regardless - frequent hand washing, social distancing, staying home if you are sick

                        - not everyone will get sick, even when exposed

                        - nearly all will have a mild disease and recover

                        - if you're in a high risk group then yes be more precautious

                        - Most masks won't keep you from getting it but can help YOU from spreading germs if you're sick (again stay home).

                        - masks are good reminders not to touch your mouth, nose and eyes

                        - have backup plans in case schools close, including universities

                        - keep abreast of the situation but in the meanwhile live your life

You believe this because you can't read or are spinning what you hear.

From Bernie's Website: "Create a Medicare for All, single-payer, national health insurance program to provide everyone in America with comprehensive health care coverage, free at the point of service."

"Free at the point of service."

                          Previously told to you:

It’s people like you who help politicians BS people.you use the word free- I use the words full of Shute

You run around saying Corp pay no taxes- then what would raising their tax rates produce? They have a tax rate now, don’t they?

So why not raise their tax rates to 100% ? It wouldn’t change anything for them right?
Sound bites with no grasp of economics- but it sounds great to the unwashed masses

Free at the point of service? - no it’s not that’s called credit
By your own words you are paying for it thru your taxes, and if you actually pay taxes you are paying wether you use it or not
If you don’t pay taxes it’s already actually free
If you work and can’t afford health care how will the added taxes?

First you misunderestimate the meaning of the word "free." Now you misunderestimate the words "credit."

Free at point of service means you do not put down a credit card, debit card, or cash. It means the service has been paid for by taxes.

But, get ready to have your mind blown, are you ready? All other industrialized countries have national healthcare. They can organize it and they have it. Not only that, but their residents pay less than Americans for their healthcare. Furthermore, their healthcare is better in most categories. So, why can't we afford what they have? Why are we not as great as them?
