2003 NPL Boys
Let's take a real-world example how taking players based on greed back-fires...
2003 NPLs took a roster of 22...how could they NOT take all these people with big $$$$$ even though only 18 can dress. They don't care - FESA got paid and players didn't really have to commit.
This weekend going to Ft Lauderdale with 10 players = 10 PLAYERS. A few of the kids and parents don't feel like making the drive, even with carpools being offered. A few hurt and a few have been saying all week they were "blowing it off" and NO ONE thought to get guest players from Elite 1 to help? What a waste. FESA got the 22x $$$$ to keep a high roster where quantity was certainly chosen over quality (and commitment) and now this team is, once again, screwed.
My advice - don't worry about retaining those who just want to be on a team without making a commitment and focus on those who DO want to play - because either way (even if it's a lower team). you're losing $ but by creating this money-hungry team, you now have strong players who want to quit since traveling with 9-10 players in an 11v11 is a joke.
This team is a perfect example of the club doing the wrong thing and doing nothing to try to fix it.
