That is an old wives tale. No kid is killing themselves over a missed pk. My daughter played club and high school. Took plenty of pks. Missed some, made some, just like her teammates. She didn’t kill herself, just like her friends that played basketball and who missed a free throw or who struck out with the bases loaded and her team down by one or the kid that dropped a ball in the end zone to win a football game who didn’t kill themselves. Next your not going to give out Fs in high school, because a kid could be upset and kill herself.

You must be the guy who calls his gay husband his wife!

They already dont give Fs in highschool. Welcome to the 21st century. Where have you been???Kids are put in remedial plans before this happens and then they are spoon fed the course work and given mandatory passing grades. What rock are you hiding under? go back your country!

Wow- you base you seasons success on if you did better or worse than Stjs? What exactly do you put on the banner?
Clue: doing better or worse than another school doesn’t matter unless it’s in a championship game ( conf or states)
Look at Staples- very good seasons and have come away empty , they have done better than most but they aren’t happy- those kids want the prize

Then they should stop choking! Hahaha. Reality is that Staples has been young and the league and state competitive. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them run away with things this year.

You have to build a tradition. Cant just rely on excuses and say maybe next year it will happen for us. St Joes has that tradition and will always have edge on competition. Exactly why we chose it.

Not comparing the two sports, just when it is appropriate to start looking ahead to the next seasons in both of them. Nothing nuts about that. Maybe it wasn't a great comparison because CT HS spring sports are obviously still going on in late May/early June. Mid-June when the schedules come out would be the earliest it's appropriate to start looking ahead to CT fall sports.

Come on. If the kids can laugh/joke about it "just being high school soccer" and in the end not really meaning all that much in the grand scheme of things, then no one should be killing themselves over the outcome of such a game no matter how big the moment in the game is/how much is on the line. What many do have regrets over is always having to wonder what might have been because they were not the true champion. When kids get to be Jrs and Srs in HS they want to start being treated like the mature young adults that they are. This rule paints the opposite image of them on the biggest stage of all and that is not fair to them. They worked hard all season to get to that point and were apparently mature enough to handle the same tiebreaker in previous rounds (despite the fact that missing a PK in the first round and wondering what could have been is arguably worse than missing one in the final when at least you made it to the final.)

then go to the CIAC and petition a rule change- make your argument and convince them
but as of now these are the rules we have to go with

There have been plenty of FCIAC tournament finals over the years that have ended with "co-champions" being declared.

Trumbull used to have that tradition times ten. Coaches leave. Once JN leaves SJ, they will go back to a middling school. Trumbull actually having a coach now won’t help SJ either.

Exactly. I've tried for years to find any information whatsoever about this supposed incident way back when and failed.
