    EDP moves to USYouthsoccer

Does any know the strategy behind this move? US club soccer was king in the northeast. With USYouth soccer being aligned with dying CJSA and Travel programs.

NYCSL moved into the CT with the CCSL and clearly battling with EDP.

Interesting how this will play out. EDP is the king right now with largest leauge with strongest teams and best tournaments in the area. Will they be able to boost USyouth soccer in the East coast. I am sure this partnership was money driven. USYouth soccer desperate to compete US club soccer and EDP seeing an opportunity to Separate it's self from growing competitor leagues.

Will this boost ODP? PDP and ID2 had dominated in talent attraction.

I think there's a war going on between NYCSL and EDP.
All these moves are built around that conflict.

At the national level, this battle is between US Club Soccer and US Youth Soccer for market share in youth soccer. Both now competing aggressively against one another and promoting their own "national championship" and "national leagues".

US Youth Soccer will likely introduce a national premier league to compete with ECNL soon. US Youth Soccer has the benefit of the State Associations, and here in CT, CJSA is losing teams to US Club so perhaps CJSA can now offer regional play through EDP in an effort to keep clubs in their system (and the registration dollars flowing).

When the dust settles, we will have 3 organizations competing in the youth market: US Club, US Youth and USSF (Development Academy). All will tout how great they are and each year we will be bombarded with regional and national championships from 3 separate organizations! Lots of travel to exotic far flung locations, with mommy and daddy gladly footing the bill. These organizations cater more and more to the affluent consumer (primarily white rich kids) excluding large segments of the youth soccer population - not a great recipe for developing all soccer talent....but who cares, the money is flowing nicely.

Why do we have 3 youth soccer platforms? Why is USSF competing with its member organizations in the youth market? Should they not be supporting/guiding a combined US Youth and US Club Soccer platform? What a mess.

Hey Carlos Cordeiro - what is the game plan?

When the dust settles? We have largely the same three organizations today with three championships

This is island warfare, all THREE fighting for some tiny foothold or hill to claim the superiority

My kid's team used to play in the EDP. It was a good league, the problem was all the NJ trips. But now it seems they have a NE branch. Is that where CT teams will play?

Idk, the whole EDP/USYS thing sounds like a hot mess just handing out conferences right and left. USYS used to have a clear top to bottom structure, with the National League being comparable to ECNL. Now everyone is in the EDP National League "conference", or EDP National League Club v Club conference, or the EDP National League Premier conference, or the EDP National League DA2 U16 conference...you get the drift.

What we end up with on the TS board is a lot of parents needing to validate their choice of club/league/platform and justify the astronomical costs they are incurring for their kids soccer experience.

The debate will be never ending because we have three national platforms (US Youth, US Club and USSF). All three are proclaiming their supremacy in their marketing materials - better coaching, better training curriculum, better competition, more college scouts, championships for this, that and the other thing.

Three platforms necessitate more travel because the platforms are closed to outside competition for the most part so parents end up flying their kids all across the country and spending a ton of money playing oftentimes meaningless games.

                          How did we get here?

The parents kept writing checks. That's how we got here. it won't stop until parents start saying "no more." But so far that isn't happening on a large enough scale to get the landscape to change.

It will never happen. It's not the same parents year in and year out. The ones with experience learn and change their tune, but then the next generation of parents comes in a few years and they have to learn it for the first time on their own. It's like the waves on the ocean ..... new ones never stop coming in.
