    Ouch . . .

    Tweet from Anthony DiCicco:

USSF declined to start the GDA 10 years ago. The ECNL stepped in. Built something great. Instead of investing in the ECNL, they wanted control over the pathway & decided to compete with it. But they haven’t built a better mousetrap, just one with more restrictions & constraints.

Well, there you have it. Unless any keyboard warriors want to say DiCicco doesn’t know what he’s talking about?

Not the point of the thread - nationally, GDA has had a bad week and a pretty bad 2018.
So did boys DA when it first launched but look at it now.

Sure. But you neglected to state the obvious which is that boys DA didn’t have an elite competitor. GDA does. If they can’t deliver their customers will go to ECNL. Will they stick it out while GDA figures out how to solve their problems, when ECNL is humming along? Doubtful.

Each of those clubs individually probably have both more national championships and players in the NT pools and that have been in NT pools than all of the clubs in the Pacific NW combined. The clubs we have up here are rec clubs compared to PDA and Hawks.
Orlando Pride is also out and going back to ECNL.

You just revealed the critical logic flaw in your narrative.

US Soccer doesn't have a 'competitor' in it's space, there is only one governing body of all US Soccer it's them. Not usys, us club, ayso etc...

Framing things to fit your logic and narrative, then US Soccer actually had a stronger 'elite' competitor in usys in 2007 as they (usys) had every single quality club in the nation under their umbrella.

In 2017 US Club had just 80 self proclaimed 'elite' clubs in their league.

Why the tiny US club youth association wants to battle with the 'governing body' is their own deal.

USYS didn't fight the DA program in 2017 or 2007.

US Club wants to rumble and more importantly many fiscally motivated clubs want to make bank off parents and the US Club model allows for this capitalist con job to thrive.

Make money or make players? They choose money.

You make no sense. But it’s ok. The people have spoken. The best of the best clubs are leaving GDA. DiCiccone has pointed out the obvious about the GDA scam. It’s crumbling and you can continue to defend and spin but you can’t stop the inevitable collapse of GDA.

If a club opts out of the DA for USYS or US Club kiddo leagues that's their choice. USYS & US Club serves the masses and will continue to do so, not really moving the needle, just personal choice. Same as it ever was.

Cal South moves the needle, if they all (boys & girls) went back to USYS or US Club leagues, then US Soccer would make the decision to have Pro clubs field DA teams.

NWSL & MLS DA aren't leaving Portland anytime soon.

Will be interesting to see if boys ECNL takes off as a viable option to DA. Safe to say I think ECNL has proven the best choice on girls side. Will a real brand that has had to build a structure in a competitive environment take on"Men's" US Soccer's bloated carcass and give them a run? Would be good for soccer in USA if US Soccer had a competitor.

The best choice for Oregonians is to play locally, be it US Club or USYS. With a sprinkling of out of region events for development, competition & exposure.

What's good for PDA or Crossfire Premier is not be confused what's good for our lot.

Stick to the basics we are not them, never will be.

With Trump in charge of this country anything is possible US Soccer could just crumble.

                      Love it!

Yeah but ECNL just feeds the pay-to-play model that’s killing US Soccer. Nice for mediocre level white affluent girls but not for the country.

Take it up with FIFA. Like them or not, US Soccer is the governing body. You act as though they are peers/competitors with US Club or USYS. They're not.

                            Biggest reveal:

Oregon club teams now contenders in the US Club league (eCnl).

                            Now there's a quality league :)

                            Just sayin.

Man I feel bad for you. Spend over a year on here insulting ECNL and OYSA and talking up your GDA, only to helplessly watch it slowly swirl down the drain. I know. Rethinking all of your choices over the past year is painful. But this is a growth opportunity. Embrace your mistakes. Learn from them. You might actually become a better person (yes it’s a long shot but you never know).

Yes and those of course are the voices defending it :)
