Tryout Week is at hand: Who is considering switching Clubs?

No, you generally can get to know by face some of your opponents (outdoor or even indoor) or their parents and sometimes they do wear noticeable parts of their kit that sets them apart. I remember a couple of years ago, several oakwood kids came to FSA tryouts and they all had royal blue socks and shorts on, chatted a lot, and some had glastonbury t-shirts on (and we recognized a few kids). You can't tell everyone, but many kids you can. You can definitely tell fairly quickly which kids have some ability or not but the way tryouts are set up, is not very fair. Often new players are grouped together (good and bad) and the good players can't play decent soccer because the other kids in their group are terrible, so it hurts them. If tryouts were legit, there would be lots of small groups (including the current team members) all mixed together and frequently changed to make sure you are seeing the best that kids have to offer ..... and putting current team members up against outsiders to see who can stand up to who. Unfortunately, this can not happen in most tryout setups and they are mostly a waste of time. If you are interested in playing for another club, you should go and work out 3-4 times with their teams during the week so you can truly play with and against their players to see how you stack up (and the coach will see it too).

Agree with everything you say. But I still say people come on here and say stuff in regards to this just to stir the pot.

FSA picked up 2 from Sporting back in April for their 01 NPL team. They passes over several existing club players and went outside, so it does happen.

A team of juniors, some of whom aren't getting recruited and won't play next year, that's 2-6-3 and 8th place? Good adds.

They added one to their ECNL from Sporting as well. Lots of decent kids appear to be coming from Sporting. They must be doing something half-way right.

They said their timeline should be relatively quick. They’re just running credit checks on all tryout attendees, those with good credit will all be made offers.

lots of problems at fsa complex. Parking is third on the list, but is still a HUGE issue. Sad.
