Because of this bipolar and other people with mental disorders can buy weapons even it is illegal for they no longer show on background checks as having such or being prescribe anti-psychotic medicine . What if a crazy student took the gun or a teacher was crazy?

In almost 2 dozen states teachers are allowed to carry. In FL you cannot. Surveys among teachers however show that the majority do not want guns in classrooms, either because they personally are not gun owners or they think it's a bad idea. Not only could a student or teacher go rogue but a teacher could be mistaken as a shooter by law enforcement in a frenzied situation. Most importantly, even highly trained law enforcement officers make mistskes, freeze etc when sh it goes down. Your average teacher may be a skilled shooter at a range but won't have the years of real world experience, tactical training, shooting in confined spaces etc. Needless to say most cops and agencies think it's a bad idea also

He was in the school, not across the street shooting into windows at the school! He was in the hallways shooting into classrooms. A hand gun would have done just as much damage.
