^ They'll split the U17s into U16 and U17 in less than two years. Take that to the bank.

As for Barca they're not there yet (may never be - remember Surf? lol) but minor incompetence is definitely not a factor. Clubs that are already in DA would be disqualified if it were! There are some clubs that should be on notice (if they aren't already). A two tiered system of promotion and relegation might prompt some of them to get their act together. As it is not plenty can skate on the frozen pond of mediocrity with few ramifications.

The abolition of U-12 DA is a good/bad thing. Its good for player development, bad for pay to play clubs to SELL the high fees early.

U-13 isn't going anywhere. Anyone that tells you that is going off the US Soccer close vote on U-13.

They will vote on U-13 in a year or two, and it will pass to stay then also (I was at the vote last Thursday, and I'm very confident of this).

BARCA is NOT a DA team, and they won't be going forward. - FACT. They can't even fill out an application correctly, its a joke.

Valencia submitted their application, their U-13 first year candidacy is under review but will likely take a full year from now before any consideration is made. Earliest entry would be Fall 2020.

The DA is just reverting to a 2016 status, without U-12 in the DA.

Happy to answer anyone's questions, JUST THE FACTS.
Wow, Leigh Pilkington must be padding your wallet! If Valencia is given DA and Barça isn’t , everyone involved in that decision should be fired the same day! Valencia hasn’t shown any ability to develop its players in any capacity. You don’t want to let Barça in, fine. But Valencia ?! GTFOH!!!

I have a question, have you been included in the MLS meetings?

What criteria would go into these schedules? Wins? Wins vs MLS clubs? Score differential?

Barca does not need nor want DA.

Why would they develop more with a local club over an academy?

The problem with the expanded U12 clubs is they were added solely for that age group and not many were up to snuff quality wise. As it is not all BDA clubs are up to snuff. In addition there was more travel for 11 year olds than they really should have at that age.

As it pertains to the DA, yes. As it pertains to their MLS structure, no.

It would be based on the previous years OVERALL DA performance.

Can't take a Club's good 04 team and a bad 03 team and play different clubs. so it will be a clubs overall DA performance.

It won't be perfect, but it will shield some lower level DA performing teams from playing to many MLS teams.

It will get reviewed each year, and adjusted for the following year.

You may be right, or you may be wrong. I don't know and I don't really care. But the facts say they are interested or they wouldn't have submitted an application for review.

That said, the application itself looked like it was filled out by a kid. Word to the wise, it was discarded as incomplete. We laughed.

Awesome that US Soccer has their DA committee on an anonymous blog keeping us updated on the applications. Or are you just a parent that US Soccer keeps in the loop so you can troll anonymous soccer blogs? Either way thanks for the info.

Very unfair. Should be team based not club based. 07 gottschee beat NYCFC but because other years are struggling
they wouldn't get to play the red bulls or NYCFC again?

The DA should be Pro/Rel. Anything but that will continue to produce more of the same.

yes, better move to Barca as they will be in the top tier along with RB, NYCFC, DCU, Valencia, etc.

the issue is that Clubs play Clubs, its a full day of games. so there is no perfect solution, but we'll do our best.

Its the aggregate of the ages, not one team that makes or breaks a day match up .
