Good coaching by who's standards ? Yours !! Your kid cannot even make the team, how are you an expert in the matter ?

Why would any girl move to a TA club in hopes of making the Thorns Academy? They'd be better off sticking with their current club where they get good coaching and development and then try out for the Thorns Academy. Very few TA girls will make the Thorns. VT will offer the most hope. Eastside and Westside offer none.

Simple. OPL on outside looking in. And the coaching there is nothing to toot your horn about. Get real. Stay with OPL team at own demise.

It's simple... TA clubs need more girls to play and pay to help subsidize their boys programs.

If you're a girl then staying with the OPL would be best. By U14 FC, Thusc, and OSSA have 90% of the talent. WST, ET and salmon creek do well at the younger ages but the talent always migrates.

You should say 'had 90% of the talent.' It's over. History. Obvious.

True. Probably closer to 100% soon enough

I find it funny that you are all still arguing the OYSA vs OPL point. There is nothing left to argue. By Fall 2014 everyone will be playing OYSA. I am not supportive of this, but it is pretty obvious that this is where we are heading.

So, can we just get back to bashing each other's clubs since we are all going to be in the same league by the end of the year. In this spirit, let me start. You all blow azz, your DOC's are idiots and your coaches are anything but.

That WAS the historical pattern, not sure the motivations to move are the same going forward.

Why would they change? Did girls coaches at WST, EST, and so on change? Are these clubs putting more resources into girls? Are they suddenly putting more value into their girls program?

NOTHING has changed! NOTHING! The TA clubs switching back to OYSA means sh!t. These clubs have not changed one bit. They are the same. Same sh!t different league.

It certainly hasn't changed yet. I know of at least 3 top HS aged girls that have moved from a large TA club to an OPL club this fall. And if I know 3, then there are undoubtedly more out there...

Currently I think there are more girls moving to ECNL clubs in Washington than there are between OPL and OYSA. OPL is not going to have anything to offer unless one of the clubs can gain a ECNL bid. If the Thorns can come up with a meaningful path it will certainly attract good players.

The argument about OYSA not having coaches is ridiculous. Any girls academy will have the same coach pool that the boys have. Things are changing for sure and it is about time.

Clearly you do not understand the thread that you are posting in. The Thorns Academy is tied to the Timbers. OYSA is tied to the Timbers. OPL is tied to nothing. The MLS wants all of their teams to have Academy for boys and girls. These girls Academies will work together with ECNL to form a joint elite league. This is good for Oregon. It gives us a local in. There is no way in heck that top level talented girls should stay with OPL.

I recommend not being stubborn and just do what is right for your child.
