If the striker in question is the top forward on the team, I would bet that team is in big trouble in any game that they face a decent or better opponent. Would be nice to know more and see which opponents the striker is getting their stats from (teams below .500 (or well below .500) vs mediocre teams or winning teams). It would not surprise me to see their goals and shots come at the expense of the more helpless teams that they played.
Given the # shots vs SOG/goals or even assists, I'd say accuracy is a big issue.

Yeah, but I would bet it was because the striker was forcing the shots from poor places on the field rather than working to get better shots with their teammates. It seems most likely that it is the issue with the striker but if all of the strikers are in the same boat, perhaps it is a team issue.

NU was 10-9-1 for the year, 7-2-0 in a decent conference. CT player is a defender there so no goals

I would say that anyone that plays for CFC is a definition of a good striker.

Unfortunately for soccer, these are the only stats that are ever kept for all players and the reason why we choose forwards from one level to go onto the next level ... they are the only ones that have measurable numbers in these meaningless stats for backs (and mostly for mids).

Are you aware that their are high school programs in this state that track individual turnovers and steals?

Really, then why does her bio say she attended Westhill, from Stamford and was a forward. Her goals were against New Hampshire, Dartmouth, and Hofstra. Her playing time went down as a soph and I would bet that trend continues nest year. I am questioning why KN on that roster does not get a lot more time?

Which one? It should be standard for all players. Then you would get a better picture of which kids tend to do more positive things with the ball.

What does it matter? Isn't it enough to know that there are some schools out there that look beyond the basics in assessing their players? Did you know that the maxpreps website, which makes posted high school player stats open to the public, also has space for things like steals as well?

How do you force schools to make statistics standards? Does the CIAC have any requirements beyond the fact that the home team's scorebook is the official one used in any disputes or issues? Who really seeks the stats in the short term? Wouldn't that be the media and those All-State committees?

Maxpreps is garbage. Its a joke that some parents add crap to so that they can show off mary's goal and an assist against bridgeport. I would bet 99% of CT teams (HS, Premier, ECNL, DA ....) keep nothing more than G and A. Very few outside of college even track S or SOG and even very few colleges track minutes. Hardly any teams track turnovers (and unforced turnovers), steals, or something as simple as a tackles or plus/minus stat for defenders.

Stats trackers can barely manage to get the most important stats right. Trying to add on to that for HS games is comical for most programs.

of the 70 goals for westhill, 50-60 of them probably came against Stamford, Trinity, norwalk and Bridgeport

So that's an average of 17 a year or one per game, average. Like you said rack up 3 a game against some easy opponents and voila! 70.

Westhill is a sheet hole program. A lot of talk every year, but a whole lot of losing
