Oh, so it's better to hang out with the over-privileged U.S. Soccer Club kids where he will lose his moral compass, learn how to be a spoiled brat, surround himself with kids who only want instant gratification and hang out with racist New Englanders...yeah, that is a good idea

Ah, yes. The ignorant American fool who has never set foot in Brazil makes sweeping judgment about a country. Yes, there is crime. But if you have extended family in Brazil and speak Portuguese - you should be fine.

God forbid your precious iPhone gets stolen - how will you waste your life away reading countless sports articles and not focusing on developing yourself? You can't spend hours on your iPhone wasting away only to realize you have no ability to think in linear fashion? If you don't have an iPhone, you might actually have to think about the real world

That would do every American soccer player a great deal of good. Rather than give them those brain-sucking devices, take them away, and make them play soccer barefoot. Maybe they would then actually appreciate the life they have -

Oh, wait. Their poor over-privileged parents couldn't stand not having little Johnny without his iPhone or wifi. How would he ever snapchat his friends? How would his parents ever get to brag about their little soccer miracle without their own social media? His parents are addicted too, but just don't want to admit it

Better to stay here in the safe surroundings of my McMansion, with my spoiled children, consumption-heavy lifestyle and Godless existence...

While you are making legitimate points, I think we all need to take a more gentle tone here. The OP was just asking about trying out an unstructured soccer experience in another country. It sounds like an intriguing concept...maybe you wouldn't do it, but you don't need to put down another country if you don't think it is a good idea for you...

It might be, unless the OP knows the country well.

You do not need to go Brazil to find non privileged children. There are thousands right in Massachusetts

The OP is correct. Kids are happiest when there are no adults or coaches barking at them...i see it during breaks at ODP or club soccer. the 5 minutes or so they get to just play, just be kids seems so natural...

Why don't we do more of that? Why not tell them at club practice that it is all theirs to do what they wish - 1 hr of free play. You know how much fun they would have?

But not in club soccer...that's where they are put on a pedestal by NUTSO parents who have lost sight of the whole process of raising a child...

I laugh at all of these parents who are so focused on college scholarships...i just want to say "and what happens after your soccer robot finishes college?" then what will they do for the next 60 years?

Reality is if these WACKO parents spent half as much time working on their child's math, writing and critical thinking skills as they do at soccer, that child would be a success for life and not a p.o.s. American soccer player

What are you doing on a US soccer forum? Do you have a kid playing soccer in MA? If not, what the f**k are you doing here? You have a major mental issue.

If you DO have a kid playing soccer in MA, why so angry? Different families have their own motivations and goals regarding soccer, yet you seem to think that you're the only one with a healthy perspective. Sure there are delusional parents when little Landon or Mia is scoring lots of u-little goals, but most figure it out reality before too long. Those that don't eventually have to deal with their bad decisions, but you seem to think that this group is 99% of the parents out there. It's not. Man, it must be very hard for you to put up with a world full of inferior beings.

It actually is a better idea than beach soccer in a third world country.

You’re right. At least they will be quoting God’s platitudes while they steal the shoes, cash and iPhone in Brazil
                          Send them to Iceland.

Which, if they do, explains why they live in either Marlborough or Fall River, not Brazil.
                            Not many migrate to Brazil

Because you would be yelling and screaming at club president about spending all this money for “free” play.

                              Get it?

Do people in Ct consider themselves New Englanders, cause I’m guessing you ain’t from Mass, unless it’s Marlboro or Fall River?
