Can a player be rostered on and play for a CCSL team and an ECNL team (different clubs) at the same time?

Why on earth would you ever need to do that??

Technically yes, although it may catch up with the player when the clubs find out.

Yes when your coach of your crappy FSA team finds out you maybe in trouble

Yes, the ECNL encourage it. Players are allowed to register for both.

Why? First there's the marginal benefit of playing CCSL as the competition isn't very good and there's
few teams or coaches with good training. More importantly you're just asking for burnout and overuse injuries. If your ECNL club isn't giving you the training you desire then you should ask yourself why you are there to begin with. If you really believe extra work is needed 1) your player should do more on their own 2) you can get 2 or 3 more players together and share the cost of private training. They'll get more from that for less money and without the risks of playing on another team

Were they trapped 8th graders? Might explain it since no ECNL for them in the fall.

Not 100% sure but I think trapped 8th graders can play down in ECNL while HS is going on and they certainly can at least train with the younger team.

??? ECNL clubs encourage their players to play on a different premier club?

                      This is correct.

Not true, my guess would be they were attempting humor...

No. In fact, OW specifically disallows this for everyone except the top 2 or 3 players on the team and the coach's kid.

No, not humor. They identify players, particularly on boys side, who are not getting much play time on large rosters. Those players are encouraged to double roster and get minutes.

why not double roster to a lower team within same club? Like FSA rostering ECNL to NPL or even CT, or CFC rostering from ECNL to a branch team? This is entirely different club.
