CU thinks so but nobody else thinks that. Kind of like the homeless guy in pioneer square that was shouting that he was Johnny Carson.

Just politely smile and nod so as not to upset the poor souls.

State Playoffs are to give high school kids a meaningful experience. None of it matters beyond what the players and parents make of it.

You don't get a monopoly on happiness just because you happen to attend a bigger school.

And converesely, it feels just as bad when a 5A team is robbed and has a championship stolen from them after outplaying a team for 110 minutes as it would if that happened with a 6A team.
Girls HS Soccer in Oregon should be divided up based on team ability/geography and reduced to 2 tiers not 4 levels. Especially when Tiny 3a private metro schools are able to compete with 6A teams. Willyville is a 5A anomaly roughly the same attendance as Lakeridge and LO (btw only 31 teams are situated in 5a across 4 leagues) the school district is an affluent suburban south PDX metro destination, while nearly all other 5a teams are rural schools of the valley, gorge/central oregon + the smaller schools from the valley eugene/corvallis, southern oregon and pacific coast.

Based on the demographics of traditionally strong girls soccer teams willyville should have never even gone to PKS.

This 5a final result boiled down to a disparity in coaching that could not be overcome. Bummer on the PK to the girl who made it. But this game on paper should of never gone to PK's

I agree. We all know poor kids can't be good at soccer.

Unless the drop from 6A to 4A like Woodburn. Being poor allows you to play down in the OSAA calculations actual fact, but oddly being affluent and rich doesn't bump you up. Only in Oregon would this happen.

We could put Jesuit* in 7A, along with the Lake Oswego schools. Sounds good to me.

(WTH is the captcha "fill in blank > usm", by the way? That makes no sense whatsoever.)

Or in the case of Marist, being affluent and rich allows you to play down in OSAA. Stats from 2017-18 (their last year in 5a):

2 state titles - girls basketball and boys golf
1 second place finish - boys track
3 3rd place finishes - mens XC and mens and womens tennis
                1 4th place finish - girls swimming
                1 5th place finish - girls track
                1 lost in semi's - softball
                1 lost in QF's - boys soccer
4 made playoffs but lost early - football, volleyball, girls soccer, baseball

Only in Oregon would a school with that much recent success at the 5a level, that boasts 52 state titles on their website, use a technicality to move down to 4a and then cry because they got beat.

I’m confused. Wasn’t this game Crescent Valley v Wilsonville?

6a teams like Woodburn should do just fine against tiny 5a like Marist. Finding a level where you have no competition should be everyone's goal, not just the poor or rich.

                    Freedom of Choice I say!
