Wasn't the question about All-New England and whether RS would make it again given that she was ranked as the third best player on Staples? Why not have three Staples players as All New-England since these girls are exceptional. St. Joe had two players make All New England last year, so it is not that much of a stretch for one school to have three.

there awards are a joke. Most go to people not worthy as we see what happens most of the time when player steps onto the college pitch. Some go to people who beat up on lesser teams every year and all 4 years. See above. Would say they might get 10 percent of the people right. There should not be 24 players all state for first team then 24 players for 2nd team. Come on that is nuts. Look at the conferences inside the classes. That is even broken up to North East South West and there are 24 there. Again a joke.

Make earning the awards great again.

they arent a joke- lots of people involved and $$$ spent= you again mistake HS awards for college awards
by your count only 2.4 players from 1st team all state are worthy - lets see your list and we can compare- remember you dont get to use any of the first team

In the state of CT anyway over the next few years it will be pay to play in high school as not enough people are paying taxes. State is going down hill fast. Good tax paying people leaving not so good tax payers coming in as CT is giving away the house.

Most of the awards given out go to kids who do not and will not play at the next level. Not that they are not good kids but the awards are watered down as is everything else these days. If you have 24 on 1st team 24 on second team. Are you proud of honorable mention as you are the 49th etc etc etc kid on the list. Now that is funny right there.

well ill take this slow for you- Most HS are already pay to play
as far as people involved- coaches (all of them that care to put a ballot in) are involved at the conf level then a group of coaches and admin(volunteer ) to do All State
then a different group (again Vols) do all region and AA
then they organize a pretty large banquet, and the senior games
never mind the little things like scheduling the entire season, conf tourneys and states
Oh and the refs 2 whole regions of them are involved
lets not forget the parents (who already paid for their kid to play) organize dinners and meals for away games and whatever your school does for the season

and yes if your kid is honored with honorable mention you should be proud as that probably still puts them in the top 10%

A lot covered, much of it wrong. Who cares if they don't play club or will play in college*? It's about their HS contributions. A lot of club players aren't that good, so why should they get an award over a non club player?

How so?
What do you care about some kid who got HM from McMahon? You don’t you care about the top 5-8 on first team ( all conf , all state) which gets you to what you really care about
All region and AA
They haven’t added to those spots- so what’s the problem
For you it’s the choices not the numbers but more often than not the choices are right so you bitch about the numbers

Our school actually eliminated most of the individual player awards a few years ago - end of season banquets go so much faster now :) . I've no issue with the conference, state, or regional whatevers. Most times the players are deserving. The # right far outweighs the few instances of politics or whatever else drove it.
