    Jill Ellis leaving USWNT

Jill Ellis had an option to stick around for 2020 Olympics, but chose not to. Understandable to want to go out a winner, but wondering what this says for USWNT in less than a year to the Olympics and beyond? Does she see the writing on the wall for the program as veterans like Lloyd, Heath, Morgan, etc. age and retire?

Probably a bit of that, as well as USSF being a cluster phuk. Winning a gold medal would be nice, but sometimes you gotta get out
. Doesn't give the replacement much time to make adjustments before 2020, but given who we have it should be fine. Bigger changes will be coming for 2023.

Or she wants to join the lawsuit for equal pay. Did you see what the other male USMNT coaches were being paid with less success?

The article discusses Swanson being in line for it.

Do the seasoned players that won multiple WC's actually play for a guy that can't get to the College Cup consistently with all the YNT's he recruits? Thoughts?

And Ellis' earned her golden parachute. I hope they give it to her.

Swanson is an obvious and probably “safe” choice. Agree that while he produces good teams, he doesn’t produce winning teams. UVA is always in top 16 or 8 at College Cup, but never a winner. He won a 2012 U-20 WC, but the article doesn’t mention the many other YNT he coached that didn’t get out of group stage.

Whoever it is they have their work cut out for them. It will probably be a very young team next time around. The players frankly will play for whoever the HC is since most of them are NWSL players and their careers rely on USWNT participation.

                BS lawsuit

                According to US soccer:

According to a letter released Monday by U.S. Soccer President Carlos Cordeiro, the federation paid out $34.1 million in salary and game bonuses to the women between 2010 and 2018 as opposed to $26.4 million paid to the men. The total does not include the value of benefits received only by the women, like health care.

Any such lawsuit is going to be thrown out when the judge sees that the women are already receiving significantly more than the men.

"The numbers USSF uses are utterly false and, among other things, inappropriately include the NWSL salaries of the players to inflate the women's players compensation. Any apples to apples comparison shows that the men earn far more than the women.
"In the most recent CBA negotiation, USSF proposed a compensation structure that is exactly the same as the MNT's compensation structure but with less compensation across the board. In every instance, win or draw for a friendly or competitive match, the women players were offered less compensation. Equal Pay was never on the table for the women regardless of structure.
"The USSF fact sheet is not a 'clarification.' It is a ruse.
"Here is what they cannot deny. For every game a man plays on the MNT he makes a higher base salary payment than a woman on the WNT. For every comparable win or tie, his bonus is higher.
"That is the very definition of gender discrimination. For the USSF to believe otherwise, is disheartening but it only increases our determination to obtain true equal pay. If the USSF cannot agree to this at the upcoming mediation, we will see them in the court of law and the court of public opinion."
The US Men's National Team said they too "were not impressed" by Cordeiro's letter. "The women's national team players deserve equal pay and are right to pursue a legal remedy from the courts or Congress," the men's team said.

Do you always believe everything the defendant in a lawsuit says or do you just hate women?

                        OP clearly hates women.

What gets placed into evidence under oath will be the real #, not this PR spin.

Questions, why do you just swallow hook line and sinker the nonsense fed to you by the defensive side of a lawsuit?

Understand how to look at this with apples to apples comparisons instread of apples to ussf gobbledygook.

Yes, and it’s totally unfair. Ellis was the 10th highest paid employee behind a bunch of male coaches who’ve won nothing. Somehow the highest paid one is the USMNT coach who got fired for failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup! Jill devoted a decade coming in to save and build the program first after Heinrichs and then that disaster Servanni. Wins back-to-back World Cups and an Olympic bronze, but doesn’t get paid for superior results. She’s the GOAT among American soccer coaches imo, but in typical USSF fashion she got f*cked over.
