Anyway, the exercise (seems you only read the responses) had more to do with accessibility of getting into places without going to a top academic school. At my company, unless you have gone to a top school, you aren't even getting a call back or your resume kept on file. So, going to a top 50 or 100 school matters.

Although maybe this one has come to an end. Most have said that they would not send their kids to USC, UCLA &/or Santa Clara despite the lure of great soccer and some $$$. It's not worth it as far as academics when right in our back yard and throughout Region One down to and including NC, we have both readily available to our kids.
My family considered the drought in CA too and earthquakes when evaluating. We can deal with crazy winters, but no rain/water. Thanks but no thanks.
