And in meetings many throw out that this person should be able to handle this matter because he/she was a DI athlete at this school. And many times, that is accurate.
You’re assuming just being a D1 athlete automatically means they are self-confident and able to communicate well and that is not always the case. We had a Georgetown girl interview and we purposely threw her softball questions about how she could use her team experiences if she joined our company. She totally blew the interview. Had a Bentley guy who also played sports interview for the same job and he nailed it. So much more articulate and could relate his experiences better. It’s really up to the kid, not the school or what they did on the field.

Very solid school with majors covering the spectrum. Good for a lot of things. Not sure they are great at any one thing.

Of course it is up to the candidate ultimately. It's not all cookie cutter, but didn't think the obvious needed to be pointed out...but here it is....not all people are the same. There you go.

Anyway, the exercise (seems you only read the responses) had more to do with accessibility of getting into places without going to a top academic school. At my company, unless you have gone to a top school, you aren't even getting a call back or your resume kept on file. So, going to a top 50 or 100 school matters.

#4 in the USA. You sales guys let us engineers figure out such things.
Sure...because you guys are doing such a great job at it. How's the world's extreme weather patterns/climate right now? Maybe a little less keyboarding and a little more actual work.

https://www.cmu.edu/cfa/music/ Sure, that's what I'm thinking. I know kids that went to CM with band scholarships/music scholarships. Great school and great kids, but not athletes at all.

            So there's that...

Actually the tech folks have provided the necessary info defining the problem and potential solutions. It’s the politicians and voters that need to get their act together. Even most of the Dems Presidential Candidates are treating this like a second or third tier issue. Should be #1 on everyone’s list.

Actually boys soccer is a pretty good D3 program. Not so much on the girl’s side.

The girls have been in the NCAA tournament in recent years too.

Underlying data disputes your assessment. The real data that is. Not the fake crap you eat up.

Unlike the other threads that turn to politics, let's try not to do it to this one as well. All news all the time.

Although maybe this one has come to an end. Most have said that they would not send their kids to USC, UCLA &/or Santa Clara despite the lure of great soccer and some $$$. It's not worth it as far as academics when right in our back yard and throughout Region One down to and including NC, we have both readily available to our kids.

My family considered the drought in CA too and earthquakes when evaluating. We can deal with crazy winters, but no rain/water. Thanks but no thanks.
