Has everything to do with age, size, ability, confidence, etc.
A leader has to be able to get others to follow. It takes an extremely rare situation for a group of seniors and juniors to follow a freshman.
We're not that far removed from the days of hazing, when freshman were abused by upper class men.

It's all about the individual some freshman can be intimidated and some cannot be if your a strong player and you prove yourself as a beast and have strong character and a no nonsense desire to win.You can definitely lead especially if joining a team that's lacking.

Kids that play club compared to kids that don't .There is no comparison. As good as kids who never played club think they are not even close, especially if kids are NPL or Ecnl.

True in most cases, but there are some club players that don't have enough skill to compete with a much more athletic/physical non club player. It's a cruel game and sometimes faster, stronger and bigger is just better.

Well if the kids playing A team NPL or Ecnl She or he will be used to going up against the biggest ,strongest and most physical as well as having the technical ability to boot.Where do you think the better high school players play the ones that get noticed.Total myth is that high school soccer is good because it is not .No skill kick and run mostly,Playing the body not the ball, ugly style.

Total myth or true in most cases. which is it .Ill tell you from experience, very true.Usually goes something like this.Big non skill gets beat acouple times gets frustrated and goes for the body on skilled player.

On the boys side, the physical differences between freshman and seniors are immense. It's just too much for the younger kids to overcome 99% of the time. Yes, there are exceptions - but rare.
I would guess the average size difference is about 6" and 30-40 lbs. Plus most seniors are through puberty.
