Plenty of talent in SW Broward
Make it Happen GC, BT, and AJ !

If you have to drive more than 1.5 hrs to get to a league, then the arguement can be made to have a league in that area given enough population.

    Miami
    Weston/Boca - don't care where
    Orlando
    Tampa
    Jacksonville - don't care where

The combined age thing is a PIA though.

And if they truly want the best kids playing here , ussoccer needs to invest some of their 100 million surplus and fund a lot or some of the da / GDA leagues

You expect USSF to just hand money to the clubs? Have you ever met the retards that run Boca United? They can barely put a schedule together. Unless USSF puts their own person in that office (snack bar), running the day-to-day, that money will just get pissed away on more golf carts and churros.

That is actually pretty funny. Well put and well done.

True enough though, hard to trust clubs with their own money let alone someone else's .

It would cost approx $120K per year per club to field full GDA and that is with one team per age group. There are currently 69 GDA teams nationally so you are talking almost $8.3MM just in Reg Fees not counting travel and kits.

Would be happy if uniforms were completely covered as the return on girls soccer is just not there.

And here you have the real problem. USSF wants to pretend like it is developing the game in this country, but you can't do a damn thing in this world if you are not willing to invest in your dreams. That means USSF putting up money, which it does not want to do. Instead it wants to sit on its hands and dictate to clubs how/when/what they do during the season and sit back and reap the rewards when/if players develop. The DA system is fundamentally flawed - only the rich can afford it, and only those close to programs can participate anyways, regardless of costs.

15 kids per team, bocaU charges 1800 per kid , weston 2500, lets average 2100 a kid...
                15x2100= 31500 per age group, 4 age groups $126K

                126K x 69 teams = 8,500,000 (there arent 69 teams anyway)

                thats waiving full registration fees...

not doable? you are probably right

how about 5 full rides to the players? what can of worms would that open up?

I agree it is a lot of money - USSF will never foot that bill, or even a small part of it. Which goes back to the whole question of why would you have DA in the first place? If USSF is ONLY or even PRIMARILY looking at players in that group they are missing tons of talent. Also, if USSF does not want to foot the bill, then everyone needs to stop pretending DA is some magic bullet, or a necessary step in your child's development. Its not. Its just another instance of youth sports being a business first and foremost.

My mistake. Meant 69 GDA clubs with 4 GDA age groups = 276 GDA teams. So really talking about almost $35,000,000 just for registration. Add in travel and kits; there goes your $100 MM surplus.

As far as full rides, there are quite a few girls on USSF scholarships though.

Where I'm going with this is that o2/03 team only need 14 to 15 Rostered and the 2 Dp players along with the 00/01 teams. Palm beach can provide a couple of talented girls but truly there is no need for Palm beach when your rosters are that small added by the fact that you can have the do players as your emergency go too players. That being said. The rosters will be bigger in my opinion and it will be mostly Broward girls along with a couple Da,Palm beach and Collier County girls.Point is Da doesn't need numbers. They need talent and Competetive teams to deal with Tophat and the likes! So glad to here for the girls Da is setting up a competitive scenario where So Flo doesn't get embarrassed every time they play the top level teams in Da.Parents and players alike should embrace the Strategic move!!!!
This is why DA will never succeed. Talent is too spread out. What this means - if you are correct - is that there will be DA for Miami and Broward, then none until Orlando. Getting on a "fast track" to the national team will simply be based upon the luck of geography. I guess if you believe that talented soccer players ONLY are located in those two counties it works. Its fine for competitive youth soccer, but for developing talent on a nationwide basis it will (and has on the men's side) ultimately be a failure and just a money making exercise.

The only clubs having DA should be MLS clubs... and 100% free. That's how it is in Europe and South America. Anything else is a dilution of talent. Except for those 20 kids per age group in each of the 30 MLS clubs, everyone else should be playing National League/SRPL/ODP etc...

                              So no GDA?

I don't think it matters - why couldn't an MLS team have a girls program? I don't think that being tied to a professional team should be mandatory but it is a great plus. In my mind much of the program either does not deliver or else is misguided. I have seen people complaining about the lack of coaching skills and qualifications, the "no high school" rule, and other issues. They need to re-think the program and look at how it is done in other countries - not just Europe and South America but other places as well and try to implement what will work best here. As it stands now it seems to be mostly a money situation - trading on the hopes of kids and parents to make a buck.
